  • A trip through Chernobyl

    http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/

Check this link out - it's a biker chick riding through the ruins of chernobyl and the surrounding areas - thought provoking and eerie and also the area for the coming game Shadow Stalker.

:icon14: Yeah, I read it over at GR.net. One of the most amazing journeys I have ever seen.

I couldn't stop thinking of that upcoming videogame: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadows of Chernobyl...

A truly awesome story is told at that site... Somewhat depressing, but extremely powerful...

I remember seeing people here cheering about the Chernobyl explosion. And now we call some Arabs "monsters" because, in their ignorance, they cheer western civilian deaths? We're certainly no better, and it took this website to remind me of that...

Very sppoky. I kept thinking to myself that the woman taking the pictures must be exposing herself to some serious radiation levels. It takes alot of guts.

I think she's pretty safe but yes, certainly takes some guts. Imagine being in a city that has no people what-so-ever. The part about the tour seemed to bring this home. It was so quiet that the people couldn't stand being there and left early. Estimates at 300 - 400,000 dead and the sarcophagus is crumbling away. I hope they're keeping tabs on it.

yeah, but she mentions that her father was pretty active in teaching her about radiation, and she has several shots of her holding the little geiger counter...

What gets me is the big old apartment complexes, totally vacant. Time standing still.

                  spooky. :icon24:

As true as her ride sounds, it isn't true. I remember reading somewhere where she confessed that the story was a fake. She only rode on the BARE outskirts of the radiation zone. She never even got close to the reactor :\

Can you find where you heard this? I could've sworn that I heard about this story on several respected news sites... I'll look for more info when I get home.

In my quick search, I didn't find her "poetry" comment anywhere, but evidently it was once published...

It looks like all the photos are real, but instead of being a solitary chick on a bike, it was a carload of people... So, the story isn't exactly fake, nor completely untrue...

                          Regardless, it's a good story!
