Thanks for sharing this. I've had the most fun pretending my keyboard is a guitar today than I've had...well...ever.

    Addicting and fun!

After playing Guitar Hero at the TG Texas LAN party, I think I'm going to have to try this out...

Woh, this game is great! I've been wanting Guitar Hero2 for some time now, but the $80 price tag has kept me from getting it. I've gotten my fix. Thanks for sharing the link. What's best is that you can import songs from the GH2 disc! I think I'm gonna go rent the game so I can import them.

Are there any USB Guitar controllers out there? Or any Guitar Controller that'll let me attach it to my PC? If so, I'm all over this game, especially if there are more songs to pick from than those that came with the original games. :)

I was wondering the same thing. As it is I'm quit hooked just playing with my function keys haha

The best thing is that not only do you have more songs to choose from...but you can also convert your own songs into the format! There are tools for that on the site.

                  Re: Guitar Hero...For the Computer?

Just do a torrent search for the songs. There are nice neat packs of songs you can download for Frets on Fire. You can even download all the Guitar Hero 1 & 2 songs for it. I don't know if its quite legal, but I think the songs are knock offs of the originals anyway. The voices in a few of them aren't the real singers. Good nonetheless.

As far as the controller goes, I read from various sources on Google that we can hook up the PS2 controller to our PCs using a PS2 to USB adapter. Then its considered a joystick and you can map the buttons as you see fit. I don't have a controller, though, so my keyboards gonna have to do for now. I still want to buy Guitar Hero, but this gets me my fix in the meanwhile.

If you want to make your own, specifically for Frets on Fire, you can DIY with a bit of electronics expertise and a soldering iron. I think I might try this! Doesn't look too hard.

Even though IMO all you need to make your keyboard into a guitar is to tilt it, the link to the PC guitar controller is here http://www.guitarthunder.com/

                      Re: Guitar Hero...For the Computer?

Great linkage. I grabbed a ton of songs from the interweb last night, and even got to play around with a few with the keyboard. Going to playtest a friend's GH controller (with PS2 to USB adapter) tonight. As I understand it, the GH controller works pretty well with it, although there's no whammy bar support.

Still, getting everything for free, being able to make my own songs (Mastodon is begging to get a couple of songs made), and another excuse to drink beer in front of the TV = Great Product! :D

You can find a PS2->USB adapter somewhere (Lik-Sang used to be the place to go) or wait for the 360 guitar to be released which will already be USB.

Just got an adapter today at Radioshack, and borrowed a friend's controller. It works great. No whammy bar upport and no 2-player yet, but there's a ton of songs to choose from. :)
