        Says that it was an experimental aircraft designed internally to test the limitations of stealth technology and design. It wasn't given an 'X' designation and wasn't planned for release, but as a test subject. Its design later became the basis of other designs around the technology.

        At least read what you link. :P

            I didn't either. An "X" designation is one that is used to denote an experimental design in a process of development. An example of its use would be that the F-16 was noted as XF-16 during delopment to designate it was still a work in process.

              Hmm...why does it have short stubby wings?

              My mind conjuered up the image of a Klingon Bird of Prey. Somehow this one fails to live up to my mind's expectations. :D

                    The wings give it a smaller radar signature. Also for aerodynamic purposes.
