SWAT forcibly take 11 yearold son from constitutionalist family
Dude, if I saw one of my children with a blown out retina (sluggish pupil) I WOULD FREAK OUT and I used to work in an emergency room. That is BAD NEWS. Put it this way, if you're at the scene of a car wreck and you have one patient with a blown out eye, and another with massive blood loss who has already gone into cardiac arrest once, and space for one patient on the life flight, it would still be a toss up between the two without more information.
The blown out eye is a sign of a possible serious head injury, and really the only thing they can do for that is surgery to relieve ICP. With blood loss you can slap a big bore IV on them and keep their volume up on a ride in. In other words, there's not much you can do in the field for someone with a head injury, but there's a lot that can be done for pretty much any other trauma.
I still think that a SWAT team is excessive, but I can certainly understand the sense of urgency.
Edit: Just re-read the story you posted and I think the Dad has a strong gripe. Of course he'll never see a dime in compensation but I think he has a gripe.
