Was just curious to know how most people fight here? I myself am a pretty skinny kid, 5'6, 122 lbs. in my sophmore year of high school.. For me I've been working out since I play football and all but still gotta use quite a bit more speed than id like to when I get into fights. I balance it out with speed and power but still none the less its hard to balance out power, speed and using your head (not too little, not too much) when brawling... Here about a month ago theirs been fights about every other day at the school for the last 4 and a half monthes so everyone gets their share of glory and shame....

Was just curious since I know we got some military personel in the community and I was wonderin if you use what they teach you in the military a lot more when you got to go toe to toe.

    Re: Fighting

I fight dirty. The days of fisticuffs being a gentleman's way of settling things are over. These days people don't seem to know when to stop so a good natured drunken brawl or fist fight over a girl seems to escalate into something much more serious. That's why I prefer to win, put them down quick, or take away their heart for the fight. You break their resolve and the fight is half won. Add to that a little pain and a loose tooth and you are done and no one gets shot or stabbed.

Take note all the rabid liberals on the forum that I do not advocate fighting in any way but if one is inevitable, it's best to win if possible and keep control of the situation. Also, I'm not sure how much military hand to hand combat training would apply since a lot of it deals with life or death situations and again, that's an easy line to cross it seems.

Yea I remember hearin on the news that a marine got in a fight with 3 thugs tryin to rob him, 1 of the thugs had a knife and i guess looked like he was plannin to use it.. The marine put them all on the ground, 1 eventually ran away (the intelligent one I guess) the one holding the knife was stabbed in his throat and killed on the spot, the other one was sent to ICU for cuts and some badass bruises, I think the marine still got put on trial and imprisoned for a bit for excessive force or some complete BS like that.

And yea, agreein on what your sayin with puttin down the fight asap but Im not one to fight dirty really, gotta maintain somewhat of an honor. Put your generation had it easy for stabbings and shootings, Truely does suck for my generation and generation after me, cuz all these thugs and "gangsters" (type of gangsters that attack neutrals.. f***ing POS') are the "rolemodels" for the next generation of thugs. So it just keeps gettin worse and worse.

The summer before last some young punk tried to step to me on the beach...that was the last fight I got into. Kids jaw had to be wired shut. That'll teach him to talk so much smack.

Good thing your in HS, when your over 18 fighting is a great way of landing in jail or worse. Most people when being attacked would do anything and everything to stop the threat including taking someones life. Many people are carrying where I live and if they are threatened and choose to use their weapon they are protected by law. I used to fight in HS until people started getting killed over haircuts and t-shirts.

Don't fight unless you're willing to take someone's life or have your's taken. That's all I'll say. Guess it's different in HS, but what Hambergler says is basically true. Anything goes as far as I'm concerned. At this point in my life, I'm either running (first option in any situation), or if I must fight I am going to do the dirtiest things I can to get out of there.

                        Re: Fighting

I don't fight. Think it is pretty stupid and very easy to avoid. No desire to temp the justice system.

I have a funny story about a couple of marines being beat by a squid and his squid girlfriend.

I was first placed in the Master At Arms birthing when I got to the pig (Enterprise). I didn't know it at the time but the Marine contingent berthed right next to them.

Actually that is the funny part. I thought the Marines where all squids in trouble because they all where so squared away. You know, short hair and all that. I only saw them as they passed through MAA berthing on the way to the shower so all I saw them in was military issued boxers and T-shirts. Sailors wore civies most of the time and, even though it was the MAA, the hair was less than 4.0. Plus I heard a LOT of screaming coming from there. Took me a good amount of time before somebody told me they where Marines.

So about a week living in MAA a new squid was brought down. They kept some of the trouble makers down there to do the cleaning for the MAA. Anyway he was tall but very skinny and was quite a dirt bag. Complained constantly. But I noticed anytime this particular Marine walk through (who I thought was a squid) the skinny guy would laugh and the Marine would look pretty pissed. If there was a MAA in berthing at the time he would tell the skinny guy to shut it up.

A couple of days later I finally asked one of the MAAs what was the deal. It turns out that the reason the skinny guy was going to Captains mass was because the skinny guy was at the Enlisted man's club on base with his girlfriend when the Marine started hitting on her. The skinny guy got mad and attacked the guy. Was beating him pretty good when the Marines buddy jumped in. That was when the skinny guys girlfriend jumped in and absolute beat the other Marine. He had to go to the hospital according to the MAA.

The MAA also told me that both Marines caught hell from their buddies because of it. The Marine beat up by the girl wouldn't use the MAA head, even though it is the cleanest head on the ship except for the Captains and XO's. He would use the head next to the aft Mess and that thing was disgusting. But he couldn't take seeing the skinny squid!

To be fair I saw a picture of the skinny guys girlfriend and she was HUGE! Not fat but just big. Taller than the skinny guy and he was at least 6'2". But she wasn't skinny! But she was kinda hot. Pretty even.

                          Re: Fighting

I've been in exactly two unorganized fights in my life. By that i mean "street" fights, as opposed to the friday night fights I used to participate in while I was in college (those involved gloves, a ring, weight classes, and straight boxing rules). I dont like fighting. It's a pain in the ass and there isnt a winner, cause even if you "win", chances are you didnt get away without a hit, so you still lose. Besides, I'm just a little guy. Seriously. I'm 5'5"-5'6" depending on the yardstick used at the time and skinny as a twig. So it makes me an easy target. Fortunately, I got great training when I was a kid from several different people and was told by my dad, who is about the same size I am, that when you're a little guy, there is no such thing as a "fair fight". I took that to heart.

One of the fights I was in was in high school, the other was in college. The one in high school was started by someone else and I actually had to fight. The one in college was more me straight beating some drunk guy down.

The high school fight was your typical story: big macho jock-type idiot decides hes going to flex his nuts by picking a fight with the little freshman kid. Football player, go figure. So I'm walking across the parking lot to go grab a smoothie from the place across the street from school before cross country practice when all of a sudden, this d-bag football player throws his backpack at me, hitting me square in the face. I give a big "WTF" shout and the kid comes charging over and starts pushing me, saying the typical "what you gonna do about it" crap while his friends egged him on from 10 feet away where his car was parked. Well, I didnt particularly want to fight, but seeing as this kind wasnt going to get off without going down or taking me down, I decided that I would have to put up a match. Just then the "no such thing as a fair fight" advice from my dad popped into my head. So I acted like i was trying to back away and the kid kept pushing me. I made sure to time it right when his eyes were locked on my face and put a swift kick to his gonads (playing soccer for 10 years paid off right then). He tried to take a quick swing at me and caught my shoulder as i lunged, but I kept going. Got around behind him and jumped on his back (dude was probably 6' tall) and dug my fingernails into his face. I scratched the crap out of his face on both sides and bit the crap out of the back of his head, which bled pretty profusely. The dude literally ran off crying, and as I stood there with blood on my chin huffing and puffing, his friends all turned tail and walked quickly away. Nobody WANTED to fight me after that cause they were either afraid I'd kill em or they though i was just plain nuts.

The college story was all my fault. Bunch of buddies and me were at a bar in Boulder. Several girls with us. End of the night comes rolling around and we get up to leave. This drunk d-bag who had been trying to pick up one of the girls I was with (and failing miserably) followed us out and started heckling her. Well, she had dropped a few beers and wasnt taking it too well, so she got in his face and told him very loudly that she wasnt interested and to leave her the f- alone. So he slapped her. Instantly, Sir Ferris the Protector of Women jumps in and tells him that he has exactly 3 seconds to leave before I destroyed him. Guy swings at me and I bum rush him, catching him in the chest with my shoulders and taking him through the plate glass window on the front of the bar and onto the floor in front of the pool tables. I grab a nearby pool cue and start whacking away at the dude for what seemed like an eternity to me, but was really all of about 4 seconds before my friends yanked me off of him. His injuries: broken collarbone and nose, 3 bruised ribs, minor cuts from the glass. My injury: 2 inch cut in my arm with a 6 inch piece of glass sticking out of it. I did the good thing and waited for the cops, got arrested, released on recognizance (yay for no bail!) and went to court. I got a very sympathetic judge who was amazed that a little guy like me did that kind of damage to a big guy like him and also was furious that the guy had hit a woman. So the charges against me were dismissed and the other guy got 150 hours of community service and anger management classes.

So yeah, I'm a bit nuts when it comes to fighting, which is part of why I dont like doing it. But I'm too old for that crap now, so it doesnt happen anymore. Well, it might if it has to, you never know.

Although one of my Defensive Backs cracked some guys ribs cuz he told him to hit him in his gut, he did and they got cracked.. Guys short.. (5'? put powerful as f***)

Yea I also have seen a couple of tall/big girls that are still the types you'd just pound away at as if they were a pornstar..
