  • Florida Bar seeks to disbar Jack Thompson for 10 years

Some of you may be familiar with Jack Thompson, the very very outspoken anti-video game violence lawyer whose strategies tend to include gross exaggeration and general hate-mongering. I found this little tidbit today, and those of us who both play games and are aware of Mr. Thompson's existence should smile a little:

Also, in case you thought he might be a reasonable guy, check out the letter he wrote to the chairman of Take-Two's mother:

Personally, I think this is great news and shows that the video games industry is, more and more, becoming a respected industry that the laws of the United States protect.

In his last disbarment hearing, he walked out in the middle of the preceding. I think its a forgone conclusion that he will be disbarred. The only question is for how long. Personally I'm rooting for life. Sadly, that would give him too many avenues for appeal.

the florida bar association is pretty hardcore, if they disbar ol' jack for 10 years, he probably wont win an appeal. especially after all his courtroom antics in the disbarment hearings.
