  • What to do about illegal immigration?

I just read this article and overall it's pretty good. I snipped the "list" part from the article and quoted it here for your reading pleasure:

    To Do List
    By Jan Herron

    Things you can do:

Most people don't realize it, however, illegal immigration is growing into a huge crisis for our country. We've got over 20 million illegal aliens in this country with around another 3 million pouring over our borders each year in addition to the 1.3 million who come in legally. We're headed for an added 250 million Americans in 50 years which will leave us struggling with an unsustainable society. Our kids are going to inherit a mess. At the same time, we must be compassionate, yet, we must ensure our nation's viability so we can help the Third World out of its population crisis.

Nationally, check out www.numbersusa.com or [email protected] and become a member of this excellent grass roots organization that works to stop illegal immigration and reduce legal immigration to a sustainable 100,000 per year. Roy Beck is the head of it and is one of the finest men I know. You can join for free and you can send pre written faxes every week and numbersusa.com sends them for you. It's great. You'll have up to the minute information. Pass this web site on to all your friends and have them pass it to their friends. We are in danger of losing our country, our language and our way of life.
Ask [email protected] or [email protected] or Larry King Live or any other shows to interview Frosty Wooldridge, Terry Anderson, Dr. William Herron, DA King, Dr. Madeleine Cosman, Linda Muller, Sandra Miller and others. They will debate and create a national discussion. If you have time, write the same letter to all these news commentators:

Also, go to [email protected] and ask for a local contact in your state. In Colorado, tell all your friends about www.cairco.org and www.DefendColoradoNow.com. www.ColoradoWatch.com. In California, California Coalition for Immigration Reform at: [email protected] We're gaining thousands of ordinary citizens each week who find it unacceptable that our officials do nothing about massive illegal immigration and no one is thinking about the world our children will inherit from our irresponsible actions today.
Call toll free to your senators and congressmen and demand they enforce our immigration laws, put troops on the Mexican border, and stop any amnesty of illegal aliens. 1 877 762 8762. Tell them to join the IMMIGRATION REFORM CAUCUS with Tom Tancredo.
Illegal aliens bring us thousands of cases of TB, hepatitis, leprosy and other deadly diseases. Our children are at risk as 1.1 million unscreened illegal alien kids attend our schools. Websites that explain diseases and further actions you can take: www.fairus.org and www.cis.org and www.thesocialcontract.com
Also, you can go to this site for all editorials and send them around to your friends to wake them up. www.frostywooldridge.com
Support organizations that enable impoverished people around the world to stay in their own communities (where they would rather be), create a decent living through entrepreneurship, training, and providing seed money to start home grown business. Examples include the Women's Opportunity Fund, Christian Children's Fund, Accion, Technoserve, Seacology, the Grameen Bank, etc. A search on Charitynavigator.com might reveal many more.
Also, I urge you to support organizations that provide families with the resources and knowledge that promote family planning via birth control, so that couples can have smaller families and provide a better way of life for their fewer children.
BUILDING CODE ENFORCEMENT - A great tool to use against employers suspected of employing Illegal Aliens). Look around within and or around the establishment for violations, frayed carpets, blocked fire exits, out of ADA compliance restrooms, poor lighting in parking lots, restrooms, etc. In restaurants look for all of the above and add cold water, no soap, paper goods, signage to wash hands before leaving, insects flying around, cold or improperly heated foods (contributes to food borne illnesses and buffets need to keep food maintained at 140 degrees), at a buffet, and see the food forming skins, that’s dangerous and a health violation.
The above is a partial list, if you think there are many, many others we can use against the absconder supporters. In the meantime, if you see or hear of a violation in any of the above, report them, and file a complaint - Especially if you or someone you know gets sick after eating out!

    Here are a few others:

    DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND WELFARE
Too many people living next door? 10 people in a 3-bedroom house? This is a health code violation and you should/could report such observations to your local Department of Health and Welfare!
    DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY
Remember 9/11- the DHS asked us to report suspicious activity such as unusual numbers of persons living or frequenting a home or apartment! So, call and report it to the DHS!
Before doing business with any local business, the power of dis-information - the Government uses it all the time!
Before consummating any agreement for services to be performed on your home/apartment/business, ASK the owners, managers, etc., to verify that any/all employees that they will be sending to your establishment are in our country illegally!
Have them assure you that they either do not employ illegals, or will not be sending any to your home/business, etc.
Mention to them that you are working with the DHS on a special project and that you cannot have any "illegal aliens" working on your premises. That such a violation, even if only suspected would be cause for an investigation and if he/she is in violation of current immigration law(s) it would result in fines being levied in the amount of 10,000.00 per offense. You could even ask them to sign a form to this affect, sort of an affidavit (making a legal statement to that fact).
Write President Bush at [email protected] or fax him at 202-456-2461 and call Ph. 202-456-1414 and demand he deport 20 million illegal aliens and enforce our immigration laws.
Call Border Patrol head Asa Hutchinson at 202 282 8355 and demand that Border Patrol maintain sweeps and continue enforcement by arresting illegal aliens and their employers. The more calls the more you effect change.

For info: www.minutemanproject.com This project is going to create a national debate as thousands of military veterans and civilians will line up on the border beginning April 1, 2005 for one to four weeks standing guard over our borders.
Write letters to the editor, call TV and radio stations and demand they report the realities of this illegal alien invasion.
Visit www.proenglish.org and www.usenglish.org - Our country's English language is under assault. If we lose our most cohesive aspect of our culture, our language, we will lose our country.
Report irratic drivers, hit and run drivers as you wittness such events. Illegals who drive without a license usually show little respect and or knowledge or our driving rules/laws and this will reveal itself via this disrespectful bahavior. I once assisted the capture and arrest of a simi-truck driver who ran a car off the road on the Long Beach Freeway, by calling the CHP (California Highway Patrol), who have a toll free nbr., 1 800 TELLCHP. Nevada has *NHP - We need to use it!
Pass out fliers (in Spanish and English) to those who loiter at "daylabor" work sites. Advising them of the immigration laws (chapter and verse) they are violating and the potential consequences of their illegal presence and continued presence can and will have if they remain undocumented in the United States of America.
Have that same flier state: "we are photographing and will be reporting" their presence and suspected "illegal status" to the B.I.C.E. Also, post these pictures on our website, while at the same time alerting/informing B.I.C.E., that we've found what they've had trouble locating - illegal aliens crossing our borders daily!
Hand these fliers to both the illegal aliens and those that would hire them at these daylabor worksites!
(This is the part I want to talk to the lawyers about): Put under citizens arrest anyone you/we suspect of violating these, our illegal aliens and those who would break our laws to hire them!
If ever you are in a car accident and either file a law suit, or have one filed against you by a suspected ILLEGAL ALIEN, inform the Judge of their illegal status or suspected illegal status and subsequently subpena the B.I.C.E.! The illegal alien may win his or her case, but the Judge is obligated to enforce the LAW, AND THE PRESENCE OF A/THE B.I.C.E. OFFICER will be convenient/obliged to take this absconder into custody!

Not true. It's actually fairly easy for people from both China and Japan to visit the United States legally.

If you're talking about hot asian girls, though, the big problem is Koreans coming here illegally to be prostitutes. It's ugly when you go to a brothel (massage parlor) and have to process 14 year old girls to be deported back to Korea. It's organized crime at its worst and it's tearing these girls up. Think about what that "hot girl" had to do to come to the United States illegally. It was almost certainly as part of a prostitution/human trafficking organization.

This is something that any of you can see for yourself if you want to. Just go to an asian massage parlor in any large city in the US and tell them that you want a young girl. Once you are sickened by the knowledge that the beautiful young lady standing in front of you is probably being held as a sex slave, leave and call the ICE hotline: 1-866-DHS-2ICE

I've been talking with a lot of Border Patrol Agents about this and they all seem to have mixed feelings about it. They're glad that the situation is finally getting some media coverage, but they're a bit threatened by some of the articles that seem to imply that the individual agents are incompetent. Of course, that's not the case, they're just severely undermanned and underbudgeted.

Their biggest concern, however, is the fact that both drug and human smuggling organizations are becoming increasingly violent. These "minutemen" really aren't trained or equipped to handle a truckful of polleros armed with AK-47s. Border Patrol Agents, of course, almost always carry an M-4 with plenty of ammo and are trained very well on its use (The US Border Patrol always dominates in marksmanship...).

Personally, while it would be tragic, I wouldn't mind seeing a wake up call for this country when things get really ugly down there and some unarmed civilians get hurt. People just don't realize how bad things are when it comes to illegal immigration.

Re: What to do about illegal immigration?

This issue is getting bigger and bigger and no one really seems to have an answer. It is dominating many European elections including our expected election in a few months.

The solicitor general, Harriet Harman, will today launch a drive to galvanise a European-wide crackdown on trafficking in young women and girls for enforced prostitution, urging closer international cooperation between prosecutors

When trafficking is seen as part of immigration you get this idea that we are somehow victims of trafficked people. But it is the trafficked people who are the victims; and we are part of the problem: the fact is that there are people in Britain who are using the trafficked women - we are part of the demand side." The point brings Ms Harman to a radical innovation in prosecution policy, what she calls "a major challenge to the notion of consent to sex. We have got to look at the prosecution of users".

"We have got to ask whether there should be immunity for people who use a woman who has been tricked or abducted, dragged across Europe, beaten and often raped as a means of breaking her down.

"An estimated 80% of prostitutes in London are foreign. The idea that these are women who have chosen to sell sex is clearly wrong. There is the issue of consent.

I'd say that take all the illegals that are trying to enter the US and send them to Europe, where their declining population could really use the boost from immigration..

But they are too stubborn there, so as their social security netowork disappears, it will be the US, with it's ever expanding population base (needed to sustain the SS expenditures, among other growth requirements), laughing all the way to the bank.

Unfortunately, the US is losing money in this big misadventure. Sure a few of the illegals are getting fake or fraudulent social security numbers and are paying into the system, but the vast majority live and work outside the law and pay no taxes at all. They're paid cash daily and its usually below minimum wage. If you hear the President saying that these poor illegal immigrants are taking jobs that Americans don't want, it's true. Americans don't want jobs that pay two dollars an hour, and that's what illegal immigration is doing to our economy.

Re: What to do about illegal immigration?

Washington -- The law signed by President Bush less than two months ago to add thousands of border patrol agents along the U.S.-Mexico border has crashed into the reality of Bush's austere federal budget proposal, officials said Tuesday.

Officially approved by Bush on Dec. 17 after extensive bickering in Congress, the National Intelligence Reform Act included the requirement to add 10,000 border patrol agents in the five years beginning with 2006. Roughly 80 percent of the agents were to patrol the southern U.S. border from Texas to California, along which thousands of people cross into the United States illegally every year.

But Bush's proposed 2006 budget, revealed Monday, funds only 210 new border agents.

The shrunken increase reflects the lack of money for an army of border guards and the capacity to train them, officials said.

Retired Adm. James Loy, acting head of the Department of Homeland Security until nominee Michael Chertoff takes over, said funding only 210 new agents was a "recognition that we need to balance those things as we go on down the road with other priorities."

The White House referred questions about the border agents to the Homeland Security Department.

The law signed by Bush had a caveat that went virtually unreported at the time. A summary, published by the Senate Government Affairs Committee, required the government to increase the number of border patrol agents by at least 2,000 per year, "subject to available appropriations."

Democrats were unhappy that the proposed budget used the escape clause so soon after the president approved the huge boost in border agents.

"We know we must do more to shore up security along our borders," said Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, top Democrat on the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee. "The president's budget does not even attempt to meet this challenge."

                      Some Republicans also were displeased.

"This is an area of homeland security that needs to be ramped up in order to increase surveillance and patrols of our nation's vast and often remote borders," said Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, chair of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

A Jan. 24 letter signed by leading Republican lawmakers implored the president to fully fund the new law "in order to secure our borders against infiltration by terrorists."

The lead signer was Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and a leader of GOP efforts to toughen immigration laws and anti-terrorism statutes.
Perhaps the Minutemen project is our only hope?

I don't know how accurate those numbers are, though, either...

Which is actually good for the economy, like it or not. Cheap labor is good, just as cheap goods are good. Not to mention that if you got rid of the 10 million illegals in this country, much of our economy would come to a standstill.

Cheap labor is not good if it's undercutting the number of jobs that pay well enough to support an American citizen. And what about the human rights issues involved here? Is it right to let a meat processing plant pay their workers $2 an hour? Twenty years ago, it would've been an American working in that plant making at least twice minimum wage... No, you can NOT say that "cheap labor is good for the economy" without taking many other things into consideration. Especially the fact that most of this money isn't going back into our economy, it's being sent back to their homeland. Mexico's number two economy is money coming from immigrants in the US.

And yes, our economy would come to a standstill if we could somehow deport all 10-15 million illegal aliens that are in our country right now. Obviously we can't do that, though. If you want to see a funny movie with some biting commentary on the pervasive, low level racism that exists in California, rent "A Day Without A Mexican". The premise is that California gets supernaturally cut off from the rest of the world and all the Mexicans in the state just disappear. Some of the scenes are hilarious.

In terms of our economy, what is the difference between paying a Chinese $2/hour and an illegal $2/hour? How can one be good for the economy and the other not? If anything, at least a little part of the immigrant's $2/hour will be spent here, while NONE of the Chinese's will be spent here.

Also, the money flow that goes to Mexico is completely insignificant compared to our trade deficit, so if you want to complain about something, the deficit is what it should be.

And that's the movie I had in mind when I mentioned that. :)
