  • Pitbulls and Air Travel

My roommate has a pit bull that he wants to take with him to the Dominican Republic.
He is going to med school there.
The airlines won't take pitbulls unless they are puppies under 6mos.
He has gotten a vet to write down that the dog is an Italian Mastif and is hoping that he will get that past the airline.

Does anyone have any experience shipping pitbulls and any possible advice I could give him to help him take his dog with him ?

Some (maybe outdated) information in these links..

I don't have any personal knowledge, however.

      OK
      TY
My roommate checked with multiple airlines, all the ones that fly to DR and nobody will let a "pitbull" on board so hopefully the paperwork calling him an Italian Mastif will work.
