  • 1.2 Wings adding tactical gameplay

    The reports coming in from Beta indicate that the Wings update will wholly reinvent the multiplayer aspect of Elite. Relatively easy linking of FSD systems, clear team-based display elements, shared bounties, shared cartography data, a full local and channel-based comm system, external camera, bigger USS encounters. And it's relatively polished. Almost ready for live.

    It's actually keeping me from starting my planned pilgrimage to Sag A*. I want to be local when the thing launches.

    I feel like I'm the only active one in here, but are most of you still in the Codorain area? We should find a combat zone and plan some skirmishes.

    I am sorry that I can't be as active as I was before guys. Now that college is back up, it (plus taking care of my family) has taken a big chunk out of my time. Most days by the time I am through with everything I have to do, it is like 10pm for me. I was on yesterday for a little bit, grinding some money so that I can get a bigger ship for when we do wings but it didn't work out so well.

    However, April 1-7 is my Spring break if yall wanna hook up then. Or maybe some weekend between here and there, but that would be much harder to setup.

    EDIT: I might just procrastinate a little bit on "wings" release date though.

        I will try and jump back in some once 1.2 goes live. I'm currently getting my online/multiplayer fix with War Thunder. I have to admit I am really liking the game, a shame I waited so long to try it out but it still seems to be very popular and aggressively supported.

            Yeah I will be on at some point. Right now between War Thunder and Cities Skylines releasing my game time is at max capacity. Plus I want to finally finish Shadowrun Returns and I want to check out EUIV some more... gah! Need more time! :P

              There's a lot of good quality of life stuff in this update. I haven't had a lot of time to dig in yet, and probably won't until next week. But it's all very promising. Lots of complex NPC wings, clearer descriptions of faction affiliation and wanted status. Shared bounty vouchers and new trade vouchers for wingmen who escort merchants to port. Some new keybinds for travel and targeting. New shield and hull booster modules.
