No mate, although pvp can be really slow in a tactical way (waiting for fights to develop, enemy who is trying their best not to get killed), Eve can be the most intense computer game you have ever played. Trust me, hauling should be something you do cause it's you only way to make money. Not your career path. Join MCREW-PUB channel, identify yourself and ask questions.
Do or do not, there is no try....

Well besides the fact there are no asteroids in 1.0 systems...
Anyway that will be why its so slow then, your interacting with rocks. Iteron is a industrial you transport things in, not mine in. Look at mining frigates and cruisers, or actual mining barges.
High sec is overpopulated with macro miners, tis not a good way to make isk as theres so much of it as you can mine in safety (but people can steal your cans or suicide you), your best off joining a 0.0 alliance to get access to better asteroids if you want to go down the mining route. The best high sec isk maker I think is combat missioning.
Things are better when you interact with other players in corps/alliances and have some sort of risk element to playing, be it in missions where could die, or market trading where you might not make a profit (well you should really its just how much profit) or in pvp where eve really shines.
I have an iteron and i am just mining in a 1.0 zone to make money to buy a bigger ship.
There are much faster and more interesting ways to make ISK. Mining on your own will drive you stark staring nuts.
Best thing to do is get together with a few corp-mates, mine, run missions or even gank and steal some other sucker's stuff ;)
If you still need ideas then feel free to drop Ashimos and the Caduceus corp a message. Its a kind of corp 'hobby' to take on new players and get them into the game with the ships and skills to be able to handle themselves be that on the markets, in battle or even in the asteroid belts if that's what they're into. All but a few of the people we've taken on have stayed with us so I guess we're doing something right!
