  • Planetside 2 - Outfits and Alliances

One of the new features being shown in PS2 is the new Outfit upgrade system. In the same way you upgrade your character, your Outfit can also be upgraded to give it's members bonuses. This goes further as they talk about specializing Outfits into specific roles, Infantry, Armor, Air ect. No obviously this could lead to problems were you Outfit is to specialized, and are presented with a problem that your not able to overcome. Insert alliances, they haven't been talked about much but it could be that we could do a TacticalGamer alliance, with Outfits under that specializing in certain roles. TG 5th Armored or what have you. Thoughts?

What about dyes on armor? I think Global Agenda has the absolute best dye system of any game, and would love to have this feature in PS-2.

They haven't gone into great detail, but mentioned that while still maintaining you empires overall "look" outfits could customize there appearance. Still need more info on this.

Doubt that would work, judging on how PS1 went and if they keep the same scheme (i hope they do, really.) In PS1 your appearance ingame was dependent on your rank, as well as what suit you were wearing. For example in NC, if you were level 1-6, you had completely blue 'jammies' (we called these people 'bluebies'. Higher battleranks (levels earned with experience) got you splashes of gold, until halfway, where you were decked out in full gold armor (and stood out like a sore thumb, really :/) and then went to black+gold.

Command Rank had the same way. CR1 and 2 got you gold greaves/knee armor. 3-4 got you right and left wristguards/bracelets. CR5 gave you a comm backpack (because you could call orbital strikes.)

Now, your outfit symbol appeared on your armor and vehicles you owned, ala ARMA 2. Also, you could customize your rank insignia on your shoulder to display award commendations that you had earned (basically achievements) ingame.

<04:11:24> *** You are now talking in channel: "TFP - Task Force Proteus"
<04:16:25> "|TG-XV| Tralic": this channel is so gay
DICE needs to make a comical boxing glove attached to a spring punch the player in the face 40% of the time they get into a helicopter or jet.

Hopefully they will design the much of the game so you need combined arms to be effective. Then we need enough TG'ers who will want to play the different roles so that we can field our own combined arms force. If we don't get that then we would have to join/form an alliance to cover the roles we don't have, or maybe we could sell our specialized services as mercs to another outfit that needs what we can offer.
We don't stop playing games because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing games. Anon
