Tactical Gamer Squad Leadership Policy Change

    Limitation on Squad Leadership
1.) In order to maintain the high quality squad leadership for which TacticalGamer squads are known, we have decided to set some limitations on who may lead a squad labeled with the TG tag or TacticalGamer in the description.

2.) This decision was made to ensure that anyone who joins a TacticalGamer squad enjoys the high level of leadership, fun, and teamwork that our players expect.

3.) As of this post only players that have been promoted to in game rank Corporal, Officer, or Leader are permitted to lead squads open to the public (non-Outfit members) with the TG tag or TacticalGamer in the description.

4.) Players ranked Member in game (“Members”) can still lead squads, however those squads must either: A.) Not be labelled with the TG tag or have TacticalGamer in the description if they are open to the public, OR B.) ) If these squads are labelled with the TG tag or have TacticalGamer in the description they must be restricted to players already in TG. (i.e. the box for Outfit Only must be checked). In summary, players ranked Member in game may run public squads which are not affiliated with TG, or they may run Outfit Only squads; but they may not run squads that are both open to the public and affiliated with TG. There is one exception for players in the mentorship program, which will be explained below.

5.) Every Member represents TG and must comply with the Primer. Any Member who becomes an embarrassment to TG through their lack of maturity, judgement, or non-compliance with the primer, even in a squad completely unrelated to TG, may be removed from the Outfit at the discretion of Outfit leadership.

6.) Members that wish to lead squads that are both open to the public and affiliated with TG should speak to an Officer and request to be entered into the Mentorship Program.

7.) Players ranked Recruit in game that wish to lead squads must complete their application on the tacticalgamer.com forums and be promoted to Member.

    Mentorship Program
1.) In order to train and develop new squad leaders we have decided to create a Mentorship Program where experienced squad leaders offer guidance and support to players who want to improve their squad leadership abilities.

2.) Any Member may speak to any NCO, Officer or Leader and formally request to be entered into the Mentorship Program, but no one with in game rank Recruit may do so. When a player makes such a request, the TG Planetside 2 leadership (in game Officer and Leader ranks) will create a private thread in the NCO forum related to that player. In this thread NCOs, Officers and Leaders will keep a record of interactions with the player, advice given to the player, and their evaluations of the players leadership abilities.

3.) A player in the Mentorship Program (“mentee”) should be willing to receive suggestion and direction from Corporals, NCOs, Officers and Leaders in their squad while they lead. In addition a mentee should expect to receive feedback, including constructive criticism on areas where they can improve. Furthermore a mentee should pay close attention to Corporal, NCO, and Officer squad leaders and try to learn by observation. Finally a mentee should review materials on the tacticalgamer.com forums regarding squad leadership and standard operating procedures.

4.) A mentee should be in TeamSpeak as much as possible while leading squads in order to facilitate discussion between mentor and mentee without disrupting squad communications.

5.) A mentee is allowed to lead squads open to the public (including non-Outfit members) marked with the TG tag or with TacticalGamer in the description while under the supervision of an NCO, Officer or Leader. This allows the mentee to gain experience dealing with mixed TG and non-TG players and develop squad management skills.

6.) A mentee will be evaluated and assisted in several areas including but not limited to: compliance with the Primer and TG standard operating procedures, proper communications protocols with the platoon leader, appropriate tone and demeanor with squad members, maintaining squad cohesion, dealing with non-TG players, and giving precise orders to squad members.

7.) There is no set time period for completing the Mentorship Program, and how quickly mentees graduate may vary between players. A player must have been in TG for six months minimum before becoming a Corporal.

8.) When an NCO, Officer or Leader believes a mentee is able to consistently lead squads in a manner that lives up to the standards of TacticalGamer they will individually post on the thread regarding that mentee indicating the mentee has their vote the promotion to Corporal. When a mentee has received a sufficient number of votes from NCOs, Officers and Leaders the mentee will graduate and be promoted to in game rank Corporal. The sufficient number of votes shall be three (3) when no Officer or Leader is dissenting, or five (5) if there are dissenting votes. At least one week will be allowed after three votes are received before the promotion occurs in order to allow dissenters a chance to register their disagreement.

9.) Any player promoted to in game rank Corporal can lead squads that are open to the public and affiliated with TG through either the TG tag or TacticalGamer in the description.

The question foremost in my mind is "what will bring the most tactical fun to the server?"

Re: Tactical Gamer Squad Leadership Policy Change

I have a question based on the concept of an open squad. When a member is running a [TG] squad as a closed to public squad, is the leader allowed to have non-members who are either "friends of TG" or when handed over a squad which contains non-members from higher leaders who have the prior leaders "blessing". These situations have happened in the past to myself and others where we close the squad to further non-members but allowed the approved squad members to remain "grandfathered" until either they leave or the squad is properly disbanded. What course of action should we take?

Is there a way for those of us who are Corporals to see who is a mentee as we do not have access to the NCO and officer forums?

GeneralCain - In the case that you describe, all non-TG members must be removed from the squad before it is turned over to a Member. If there is an Outfit member of rank NCO or higher in the squad, they may make exceptions.

VLAD - Unfortunately, not at this time.

Only thing I can think of is just to ask the SL if he is a mentee.

In the past I have seen Corporals shadow a squad lead member(mentee) in a open squad. Is this not allowed?
