  • Levelling by farming?

I'm about to drop a bunch of quests that I neither care about nor need the rewards for (and don't feel like begging people to help with I might add) simply because it appears to be easier to level by farming.

My goal, last night, was to grab some dreamfoil and other herbs for Ricca in Azshara, and instead, I ended up going from half way to 56 to one cell remaining...with full bags of loot to boot!

Powerlevelling, Grinding, farming....whatever you call it: it seems to work.

    Anyone else level via farming?

    Re: Levelling by farming?

From 55-60 I got most of my levels from dungeon PUGs and Winterspring quests. most of those winterspring quests are farm quests anyways, so it works out. I believe Felwood is still in the mix there too and both those areas are soloable. Also, you can work on all your attunement stuff and gain xp at the same time (kill 2 birds with 1 stone). I did this with MC and Ony. If you hit Winterspring, farm the heck outta the yetis, they drop good loot fairly quickly.
All in all, if you do it this way you should get 1 level every 2 nights.

    edit:
dont forget WPL... I believe those quests start at 55 and are GREAT to level with and gain AD rep and loot at the same time. Granted, yes, your quest log will be mostly dungeons at this point but there are enough solo quests still left.

I do.. When Sabre and I get on our powerlevelling sprees we just tend to kill everything in sight while moving from one quest area to another. Completing the quests add bonus XP but just killing everything that moves rather than focusing only on the quest-specific items/kills seems to rack up the XP a **LOT** quicker.

Yeah, I have the Flight path to Winterspring, and I have to pwn a bunch of Timbermaw to get rep with the guys in the tunnel so they don't pwn me every time.

Lot's of quests up there, you are right, but since I have.....jeez Sunken Temple, Dire Maul, Ony chain (next up, find proof that Windsor is alive), and that Blasted Lands quest where you have to kill a bajillion servants of various evils....not much room for more quests. I do have some remaining Hinterland stuff I can drop (to hell with Sharpbeak!).

As for WPL....my next quest for that is take on the mage. Cauldrons? Done. Towers? Done. Both thanks to Luna, I might add. But no way can I walk into the middle of Andhorral and solo that elite and his goons.

Been to EPL, looks like good farming out that way too. I did pick up a darrowshire quest, but I don't have the FP yet.

Have a bunch of Silithus stuff as well...not much for farming at my level though. Need to tread lightly out there because it is very easy to get pwned at level 55.

And other than some level 52 and 53 elite Giants, Azshara is a good place to farm.

You might want to pick up the FP to EPL and get the quest for the Savage Fond for AD rep....you can farm Savage Fond in WS as well as Ungoro and since Ungoro has a FP now it is easier to get to and farm. And at your lvl Ungoro is pretty easy and not too high as far as the creatures/monsters over there. Just be sure to watch out for the Devilsaurs....they are vicious. :)

you don't need the quest in order to pick up the savage fronds, just keep them. 30 per turnin.

Get rid of your Hinterland quests... useless, especially the sharpbeak one where the reward is terrible and the xp aint great.
Sunken Temple is your main PUG instance but soon you'll not go in there either.
Dire Maul can wait a while.
Silithus you can do at 57.
EPL quests are a lot of fun and quite challenging, but they might be easier at 56+.
Anyways, there's plenty to solo but you're gonna have to juggle your quest log - this I had to do a LOT. Get rid of quests where you know you can pick em up real quick just before you enter a dungeon. Write em down if you gotta.

                Re: Levelling by farming?

The WPL and EPL quests are great xp, plus you are getting rep, so I'd keep doing those. All the other extraneous ones though unless you just want to do them for the fun of it (some quests are teh suck, some are quite cool). Personally if it says get xxx of drops from y mob then i say no thanks. Same with all of the escort quests. I actually need to kill Araj myself. I hadn't done the quest lines until recently. So if you're around this weekend let's head up there with anyone who wants to come and smack him around.

And if you're gonna just kill for xp I'd suggest doing it in an area where you are getting some other benefit. Farm satyrs in Felwood or Azshara (good drops, herbs all over), grind furbogs for Timbermaw rep, grind the cauldrons for AD rep, etc.
                Gigan - Shaman (Resto)
                Pistos - Semi-retired Shadowpriest
...and other distractions of various levels.

in Everquest that was the only way to level, so I opt to do the quests cause it gave me something to do.... It always sucked grinding in EQ for 12-14hours at a time and realizing you only gained 10% of a level...

                    Re: Levelling by farming?

My first character upon release of the game was a NE Hunter that I pretty much leveled to 60 strictly solo and I did this in little over a month. I did this by grinding alot by farming leather. High end leather at the time sold for big money and dragonscales were through the roof. So that is pretty much all I did.

By the way.. said hunter has transfered from Silverhand and is now on Thunderhorn. So you all should be seeing me online a little more. Duenna is pretty much outfitted in greens other than the Dragonscale items that she made.. wayyy back in the day.

Mateo I tottaly agree if you have rested state especially. You can hackout high lvl single mobs for bucu exp per kill. Find the highest elites you can solo successfully and continually.

Level 50. I can handle level 50 elites, maybe a level 51 if I get my timing absolutely perfect.

The problem is, the only reliable place I know to find them is down in Blackrock Quarry. 1000-1300xp each, and I end up || this close to death.

I think tyr's hand also is around that level, but that's HEAVILY farmed.

                        Any suggestions?

The elite giants in east Azshara I soloed pretty easily, especially with a shrink ray. You could try those.

Another good idea; I just completed a Winterspring Frostmaul shard quest that continues with farming "juju" from creatures in Winterspring. this is done with a trinket a troll witch gives u. If u get to this point you can kill a few birds with 1 stone and end up with some gear. (not sure what it is, i havent checked).
Hit me up in-game if u wanna go for it.

Not me. They pwn me every time. I can't get the timing right. The issue is compounded by the fact that they stun, which makes getting heroic strikes and mortal strikes off problematic.

I can't get enough damage in sword and board style, and with my 2 hander, I can get beaucoup damage, right up until the Giant pummels me to death.

heavily farmed but has a pretty quick respawn and decent chance for epic drops.
