  • Powerlevel Cooking to 300 (in under and hour?)

I <3 shortcuts and I've been looking for this one for a long time.

Supposedly this can be done in less than an hour if all the mats are available on the AH.

    Supply List:
    49 Chunks of Boar Meat
    50 Crag Boar Ribs
    50 Rhapsody Malt
    50 Crocolisk Meat
    50 Mild Spices
    50 Hot Spices
    50 Raptor Eggs
    50 White Spider Meat
    120 Raw Spotted Yellowtail
    1 Expert Cooking Book
    12 Giant Eggs
    10 Zesty Clam Meat
    20 Alterac Swiss
1 Recipe: Beer Basted Boar Ribs
    1 Recipe: Crocolisk Steak
    1 Recipe: Curiously Tasty Omlet
    1 Recipe: Spotted Yellowtail

    Leveling Your Skill
    Apprentice Cooking (1-75)
    Cooked Item: Roasted Boar Meat
Acquire: None (comes with Apprentice Cooking)
    Prerequisite Skill Level: Cooking 1
Ingredients: 1x chunk of boar meat
    Level Skill: Cooking 1 - Cooking 50
    Number to Make: 49
    Mob Location: Dun Morogh
    Price: Free

Cooked Item: Beer Basted Boar Ribs
Acquire: Recipe: Beer Basted Boar Ribs (Stormwind Vendor Kendor Kabonka in Old Towne) for 60 copper
    Prerequisite Skill Level: Cooking 25
Ingredients: 1x Crag Boar Rib, 1x Rhapsody Malt (Sold by Yanni Stoutheart in Loch Modan for 50c)
    Level Skill: Cooking 50 - Cooking 100
    Number to Make: 50
    Mob Location: Dun Morogh
    Price: 60c + 25s = 25s 60c
Note: This is pretty easy. You get both kinds of meat off the boars so just farm them and save yourself some money unless you find that your AH has tons of the meat up for cheap.

    Journeyman Cooking (76-150)
    Cooked Item: Crocolisk Steak
Acquire: Recipe: Crocolisk Steak (Stormwind Vendor Kendor Kabonka in Old Towne) for 1s
    Prerequisite Skill Level: Cooking 80
Ingredients: 1x Crocolisk Meat, 1x Mild Spices (10c)
    Level Skill: Cooking 100 - Cooking 150
    Number to Make: 50
    Mob Location: Wetlands
    Price: Approximately 2g
Note: Pretty easy to farm the mobs but you can easily buy the meat off the AH for very cheap.

    Expert Cooking (151-225)
    Cooked Item: Curiously Tasty Omlet
Acquire: Recipe: Curiously Tasty Omlet (Stormwind Vendor Kendor Kabonka in Old Towne) for 16s
    Prerequisite Skill Level: Cooking 130
Ingredients: 1x Raptor Egg, 1x Hot Spices (40c)
    Level Skill: Cooking 150 - Cooking 200
    Number to Make: 50
    Mob Location: Wetlands
    Price: Approximately 3 - 4g
Note: If you wonna farm the raptors, they are easy enough to find in Arathi Highlands or Wetlands. You can also purchase them off the AH. I found that buying them off the AH was the easiest way.

    Cooked Item: Spider Sausage
Acquire: Trained (IF) by Daryl Riknussun
    Prerequisite Skill Level: Cooking 200
    Ingredients: 2x White Spider Meat
    Level Skill: Cooking 200 - Cooking 225
    Number to Make: 25
Mob Location: Various Level 32+ Spiders
    Price: Approximately 2-3g
Note: Best place to get the Spider Meat is off the AH. A stack of 10 will cost you roughly 30s. So, it will probably end up costing you about 1.5-2g for the meat.

    Artisan Cooking (225 - 300)
    Cooked Item: Spotted Yellowtail
Acquire: Recipe: Spotted Yellowtail (Tanaris Steamwheedle Port Vendor Gikkix) for 2g
    Prerequisite Skill Level: Cooking 225
    Ingredients: 1x Raw Spotted Yellowtail
    Level Skill: Cooking 225 - Cooking 300
    Number to Make: TBD
Mob Location: Must have fishing or go to AH
Price: 2g + 3g (depending on the fish prices on your AH)
Note: You can stacks of Raw Spotted Yellowtail in the AH for less then 25s. So, I recommend that you go the AH and buy 6 stacks of Raw Spotted Yellowtail. You can level up with this recipe until 280 before the skill goes Green so the last 20 level will require you to make 2-3 before you level. So figure that you'll need 55 to level up quickly and then about 70 more to level up the final 20 skill levels.

    Cost Projection:
    Approximately 20g - 30g

    Quest Notes/Comments
There is an expert cooking book. It is sold by Shandrina in Ashenvale.

In order to get Artisan cooking, you must finish a quest in Tanaris for Dirge QuickCleave called Clamlette Surprise. The items required are Giant Egg x 12, Zesty Clam Meat x 10, and Alterac Swiss x 20.

This guide was devised as a quick way to level cooking to 300. It does not take into consideration the beneficial buffs of each recipe. It took into consideration only the speed at which you could level and the relative cheapness with which you could level to 300. There are 2 recipes at 300: Dirge's Kickin Chimaerok Chops (an Epic reward from part of the AQ Scepter Questline) and Desert Dumpling (a quest chain you get from the Innkeeper in Cenarion Hold when you have Cooking 300).

Zedd, if you find that guide you better share. I had cooking at 300 before I was level 60. I've now played something like 47 days worth at level 60 and my fishing is still around 150. So friggin boring! Those elemental pools taunt me everytime I see them. CURSE YOU ELEMENTAL POOL!

Seriously though, that guide looks awesome.

I know how you feel Pistos. I turned in that Hydraxian quest and swimming back to shore I saw an elemental pool....I tried to cast and my fishing pole laughed at me....sneering it said you can't fish here yet, dummy!

But thank you for the guide, Thaisia. I'm going to get, pardon the pun, cooking on this skill. :p

Re: Powerlevel Cooking to 300 (in under and hour?)

I leveled my fishing and cooking at the same time. Found or bought the recipes for cooking fish for whatever I was catching at the time. Fishing gave me the mats for cooking. I have to admit it would be nice to level cooking and fishing on all my toons, but I will let my main do the cooking/fishing for all my alts. I guess my horde toon will have to fend for himself.
