Trauma Studios announces that they have been acquired by Digital Illusions, the creators Battlefield 1942 now own all the assets and rights to the popular Desert Combat BF1942 modification, and the Trauma staff are now officially employed by DICE. Here's a bit on what the future holds following this deal:
Digital Illusions buys all assets of Trauma and employ all its employees. Digital Illusions thereby buys the trademarks Desert Combat and Trauma Studios.

Trauma will work with the development of games built on Digital Illusions’ technology produced in Sweden. The focus for Trauma – as for Digital Illusions’ Canadian office - will thereby be on concept and game developing, rather than on developing technology. Initially Trauma will work with the development of a concept for a new PC game based on the Battlefield 2 engine. The companies have been working together since February 2004, and Trauma will continue to develop certain parts of Battlefield 2.

Trauma has nine employees today. According to plan the number of employees will increase gradually to be around 20 persons.

I'll tell you, this sounds like a good thing, but a situation exactly like this led to the demise of CounterStrike...

This is why DC died on the vine.

      3) Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine.
