  • 1.5 Impressions?

    Haven't gotten a chance to play it yet. Working on incorporating the changes into COH: Europe In Ruins at the moment... ;)

    Ive only played 3 1 vs 1 rounds, but i think its pretty good. At first it looked like the allies got an incredible amount of buffs, but it aint too bad.

    The volksgrenadiers are great now. They can lay down barbwire and sandbags (!) anywhere at any time. Behind green cover, BARs cannot suppress either. This gives the Axis a good beginning game. Axis mid game and late game has been nerfed though. At mid game, pumas get raped by M8s and the allies AT gun, for whatever reason, now has an arc as large as the pak38 which was the biggest distinguishing factor from both AT guns.

    In late game, allies not only retain the buffed AT gun, but the calliope doesnt cost munitions anymore (though it doesnt have a main cannon anymore). If they are armor company, allies war machine is more accessible and can be deadly if used right. To balance that, though, the pershing is harder to get and you will likely have to fight off tigers without a pershing.

    Defensive doctrine also got a boost. 88s can no longer be gibbed by anything anymore and is more resistant to artillery. Although some of those things can kill the crew, a 2 man pioneer squad can reman. Panzershreks also got a much needed buff, and since you are an idiot if you go defensive doctrine without T2, thats a good buff. I need to test more, but i think a T2-T4 strategy will be viable now.

        Did you log into multiplayer? Thats the only place it automatically downloads from.

        Anyway, i am freaking loving this patch. T4 is not only viable, but really accessible. KCH and panzerIVs are no longer a rarity. Especially if supported by entrenched 88s.

          id love to see a replay of yours that you go defense and win. Who would have thought? Im lovin it too. The only thing that irks me are the allies AT guns... maybe theres a reason for the cone widening?

          And yea, i logged in and it didnt download. I had to download it from fileshack.

          Also, goliaths can take out tank traps in one blast. Maybe youll actually see someone build one...

            In theory was the 57mm was buffed because of the shermans being fixed. Smoke works as intended now and shreks work as intended.

            Unfortunately the buff to the 57mm and the extra damage all infantry AT weapons do to light viechles has killed T3 completely.

            I am trying to come up with a Blitz/T2 strat.

            On the plus sides the Panzer 4 was buffed and will now beat even an upgunned sherman.

            I am mainly disappointed about the death of T3 though. I was a Blitz/T3 player and am trying to find something to replace that. Right now it seems like T2 with either Blitz or Defence. Atleast I don't have to worry about losing fuel as much.

            I forgot to mention the Stuh got a buff making the UAF useful also axis vet hasn't been fixed yet but infantry vet one got a boost for the healing.

              I think a T2 to T3 strat could work. If ya do that you could pick any one of the doctrines, though i think Blitz would be a bit redundant unless you never build any grenadiers. If i were doing T2-T3 id go Terror. Zeal and inspired assault would help the T2 units a lot, and then the tiger ace would complement all your infantry and the few stugs ya built.

              However, im still going with a T2 to T4 defensive strat. Its really strong if ya make sure to really use every ability defensive gives ya. Build bunkers for reinforcement, have the battles on your own territory so for the fatherland can work, and protect your 88s and use them as a buffer zone for all your friendly armor. OP a high munition if possible and youll be able to call in defensive arty on your outlying posts. If you have the outlying posts, you have a larger field of view due to one of the doctrine abilities, and that will help the 88 kill stuff from range. Both the defensive arty and the rocket barrage are incredible against shermans as well, and they hardly get any warning time.

              Snail, when i have a close game against a good player using this strategy ill post it. Just haven't had a game go by 25 minutes ;)

                ^^^I may be at lvl7 now but I am still running into new players for the most part.

                Another WTF patch note was the nerf to the bike. It does less damage to units in cover and all allied small arms do increased damage to it.

                  I do a blitz/T2 strat. Just send out units and get exp until you can get stormtruppen. And keep getting stormtroopers, nothing else unless you hav excess man power. Upgrade them all with panzershreks. Its rape.

                  But since they buffed it i dont know :(

                  Im DLing the patch now ill see how they are now.

                  Using more then one sniper at once is rape also.

                    M10 Tank Destroyer:
                    - Allied M10 Movement improved: 15% increase to acceleration and 10% increase rotation rate.

                    - Axis Armoured Car (Puma) 20mm main cannon rear penetration vs. the Allied M10 significantly reduced.
                    M8 Armored Car:

                    - Allied M8 Armored Car’s accuracy penalties vs. the Axis Armored Car (Puma) have been removed.

                    M26 Pershing Heavy Tank:
                    - Allied Pershing penetration rate vs. the Stug increased to 80%.

                    Allied Commander Tree Improvements:
                    - Armoured Fury Branch changed to: Raid to Allied War Machine to Calliope.

                    Infantry AT weapon changes (Allies and Axis):
                    - All Infantry Anti-Tank weaponry (Bazooka, Recoilless Rifle, Panzerschreck) are slightly more accurate when firing at moving light targets.
                    - Allied Bazookas and Recoilless Rifles now deal slightly more damage to Light Vehicles
                    - Panzerfaust accuracy against infantry targets has been reduced as intended. While there is still a chance to directly hit and kill targets like snipers, - Panzerfausts are now more likely to cause splash damage rather than kill infantry.
                    - Panzerschreck Damage vs. base buildings lowered by 25%.
                    - Bazooka damage vs. base buildings has been lowered by 25%.
                    Allied BAR and suppression changes:
                    - Allied BAR Rifle upgrade now gives 2 BAR Rifles rather than 3. Allied BAR Riflemen squads will now be able to pick-up MG42 and Panzerschreck items
                    - Allied BAR Rifle damage increased by 40%.
                    - Allied BAR Rifle will take slightly longer to Pin units that are in a Suppressed state
                    - Allied BAR Suppression ability can no longer suppress and pin units in heavy cover.
                    Construction Changes:
                    - Players may no longer delete Sand Bags or Tank Traps.
                    - Allied Observation Post built from Riflemen now has the same build speed as the Observation Post built by Engineers.
                    - Allied Observation Posts, Axis Observation Posts, and Machine Gun Nests now have the appropriate target type while building; now like all other buildings they will be much more susceptible to damage while under construction
                    - Axis Volksgrenadiers can now utilize the same build menu as the Grenadiers – this allows them to construct Barbed Wire and Sand Bags.
                    Smoke Changes:
                    - All Barrage weapons no longer have a 50% chance to miss targets in Smoke.
                    - Projectiles will no longer pass directly through Sherman’s on registered “Misses” – they will now behave like all other tanks and those hits will be registered as a non-penetrated “deflection”.
                    - Sherman smoke launcher recharge rate was less than the duration of the ability, now set to 45 seconds
                    Axis Officer:
                    - Axis ‘Leutnant’ Manpower cost decreased to 260 from 340
                    - Axis ‘Leutnant’ Build Time increased to 60 from 30.
                    General Squad and Weapon Changes (Allies and Axis):
                    - All Snipers more effective against units garrisoned inside of bunkers.
                    - All Allied Rifles slightly more effective against Axis Motorcycles
                    - Allied Engineers with the Flamethrower upgrade are no longer resistant to Sniper Shots
                    - Fixed an issue where the Stug’s main gun Area-of-Effect was too effective against infantry squads.
                    - Axis Assault ability will now break pinning/suppression and prevent pinning/suppression while the ability is active.
                    - Increased Axis Infantry passive health regeneration bonus received from their first level of veterancy by 40%.
                    General Vehicle Changes (Allies and Axis):
                    - Panzer IV accuracy while moving set to the same value as other tanks.
                    - Axis Goliaths now destroy Tank Traps in a single explosion.
                    - Axis Armoured Car Puma 50mm Cannon upgrade now requires Escalate to Battle Phase upgrade.
                    - Axis Motorcycles damage vs. units in light or heavy cover has been slightly reduced
                    - Axis StuH 42 now effectively kills infantry as was originally intended
                    - Axis Armoured Car Puma 50mm Upgrade accuracy reduced vs. infantry. It is intended as an anti-armor upgrade.
                    General Heavy Weapon Team Changes (Allies and Axis):
                    - All Mortars now have a chance to deal Mobility Damage if they hit Light Vehicles.
                    - All Anti-Tank guns are now more accurate when firing at moving and stationary Light Vehicles.
                    - Allied 57mm Anti-Tank gun firing cone has been increased by 20 degrees to match Axis 50mm Anti-Tank gun.
                    - Allied HMG Armor Piercing Rounds ability price reduced from 50 to 35 munitions.
                    - Allied Howitzer Gun Barrage is less accurate when firing into the Fog of War.
                    - Axis Nebelwerfer Manpower cost has been reduced by 20
                    - Axis Nebelwerfer Rocket Suppression area of effect increased.
                    - Axis Nebelwerfer Rocket area of effect damaged reduced. Direct hits and near misses will still damage infantry units.
