  • Bravo still passworded

About a month ago J.B posted a thread, requesting bravo to be passworded permanently. The idea was generally shot down by people such as apophis, and the thread died. However, since them bravo server has actually been passworded 100% of the time, with no real explanation as to why. First it was due to a hacker, then it was due to the MSO, and after the MSO was over it was just passworded for the sake of it, and has been ever since.

So. What happened to the sentiment that having <10 players on the server as a norm is bad, and that attracting new players is good? Why exactly is bravo server still passworded 100% of the time?

I have said it before and ill say it again, I agree that it should be "locked down" during weekend play as to foster more of a hardcore philosophy, while the weekdays should be open for a more relaxed feel to it while still upholding the primer. PCS lockdown for example.

Yea password nights or password weekends is a good idea as seen from the PR server. People do try a bit harder when the server is passworded and its a special "event". Even if the event is just slapping a password on the server and nothing else.

                Re: Bravo still passworded

It seems that since it requires all the time of finding and dling the proper mods (particularly tgmaps being unique) and getting setup on the server that anyone who actually wants to get it on it, will end up visiting tg forums anyway and from there finding the server password is, not hard at all... It's not like any random pub can get on there without spending some time anyway.

                  Re: Bravo still passworded

In theory it should work. But via SixUpdater, anyone who has some experience with the game engine will realize that they can get the addons required by our server by trial and error. Joining, getting the warning message, downloading it, install and rejoin.

However, yes. Unless we're using our own specific set of TGmaps/addons in the mission (bar Fallujah which most everyone has) anyone can join.

There are other methods but, servers will be unlocked during the week and locked in the weekends.

Guys, @tgmaps being in the wrong place needs to be fixed. Anyone who gets it from six isn't able to connect to fallujah without taking the additional step of moving @tgmaps out of the servermods folder.

                      Re: Bravo still passworded

It is being handled. Just takes time to get the mailman to relay the info.

In the mean time you can go to OPTIONS>PATHS>ServerMods(or Pack)>Delete the folder there>press OK.
                      Try that.

                        Re: Bravo still passworded

In your game folder look for @TGMAPS and servermods. Open @TGMAPS in game folder, open addons, and see what maps are showing. If you see files named Everon an Woodland then this @TGMAPS should be deleted or renamed or saved to a different location. Now look in the servermod folder and you should see another @TGMAPS folder. Open this one, open addons, and look for files named Fallujah. If you do, then copy and paste this @TGMAPS into your game folder.

As Lowspeed stated this area is being addressed.

Now, open Sixupdater, right click on the Bravo preset in the Dynamic/Preset area (to the left) choose updater actions, first do a convert to six, second do an install and update. This might take some time. Be patient and monitor the progress as Sixupdater updates the files in Bravo's modset.

Now after the first runthrough, all the tiles in your Bravo preset should be green. If @TGMAPS is blue, click it once, right click to choose updater actions, do an intall and update and all should be green after about 15 to 20 minutes.

If you are still experiencing problems, I will try to be on after 9:00pm EST tonight, go to the Need Help with Arma Channel in TS. Going to that channel will alert the Admins to come to your rescue.
