    Briefing
    Operation Idyllic Autumn

    1. Situation.
Yesterday 140415ZSEP11 a puppet state of Russia launched a limited offensive against the state of Chernarus. Most of the enemy offensive has been halted in the mountain passes to the North, however initial success at the opening stages has allowed an mechanized company to break trough deep enough to reach the town of Krasnostav and its nearby airfield.

    a. The Enemy
The precise strength and number of the enemy is unknown. However radio traffic suggest at least a full platoon of mechanized infantry with two light AA detachments (ZU-23-2) and a possible heavy armor squad (T-72/T-90) in reserve at the AO. The airfield outside of Krasnostav enables the enemy’s QRF to deploy by use of helicopter. No gunships or jet-aircraft are to be expected in the area.
The enemy is likely to remain concentrated in and around Krasnostav town and airfield as to secure and hold until further airborne reinforcements arrive.
Small recon patrols have been observed and the AA detachments are lightly defended.

    b. Own Forces
Apache 1 platoon is supported by Deathstar 2 (AV-8B Harrier II) and accompanying JTAC, Vader 1. Super-six 3 & 4 (UH-60 Blackhawk) have been assigned to transport duties in support of the assault. Super-six flight will also be available as light CAS.

    c. Additions and Loss
    NIL.

    2. Mission
Apache 1 is tasked with either destroying, disabling or capturing the enemy’s AA capabilities SW of Krasnostav. Then to seize Krasnostav and deny the enemy control of Krasnostav airfield. Once that has been achieved Apache 1 will consolidate the area and prepare for enemy counterattack.

    3. Execution

    a. Overall Plan
The overall plan is divided into 5 phases. The phases are as follows.

    Phase One.
Apache 1 will step off from MOB 12:00 and be inserted 2KM NW of Gvozdno.

    Phase Two.
Apache 1 will move into Gvozdno and secure the town and seek and destroy the first ZU-23-2 detachment in the fields SW of Black Mountain (0911).

    Phase Three.
Apache 1 will move E towards Klen Mountain and seek and destroy the second ZU-23-2 detachment.

    Phase Four.
Apache 1 will by support of Deathstar 2 move into Krasnostav and secure the city.

    Phase Five.
Apache 1 will deny the enemy control of Krasnostav airfield by either capture or destruction of the control tower.

    b. Assignments
    Phase One.

1’1 & 1’2 will board Super-six 3 & 4 and proceed to LZ NEST (06721249). There they will secure the LZ and await the arrival of 1’3 and PL element.

    Phase Two.

1’1 and 1’3 will secure the small village (081116) SW of Gvozdno and move NE towards Gvozdno itself. From there 1’1 will secure the southern suburb (087116) of the town under overwatch from 1’3, which will also lock down the T-junction (086118) in the center of town. 1’2 is to move in from N to S and clear up to the T-junction.

After Gvozdno has been cleared the platoon will move NE by the blacktrack going from E to W in the woods north of it. 1’1 will break off mid-way and head S where they will wait for the assault to begin. When 1’2 has moved into position in the large cluster of trees (097121) the assault will begin on order from PL. Meanwhile 1’3 will hold the ASR going E into Krasnostav and repel eventual QRF and act as reserve for the assault.

    Phase Three.

1’1 and 1’2 will assault Klen Mountain from respectively the SSE and SW. 1’3 will hold the MSR going from S to N into Krasnostav and repel eventual QRF and act as reserve for the assault.

    Phase Four.

From Klen Mountain Vader 1 will begin targeting concentrations of armor and infantry for CAS by Deathstar 2. 1’1 and 1’2 rendezvous with 1’3 and proceed to the assault line located in the treelines NE at the foot of Black Mountain. When commanded the assault begins and the platoon manoeuvres across the field and into Krasnostav. 1’1 will move to secure the grocery store (11251222) and the road leading into Krasnostav from the airfield. 1’2 will secure the chruch and cover the fields to the NNE preventing enemy counterattacks. 1’3 will sweep the eastern part of the town from church up to the last house in 107124. 1’3 will also be providing close-AT to 1’1 and 1’3, so the sweep will take time, but it will also allow for reorganization and resupply once the fighting dulls down.

    Phase Five.

Depending on the situation the final assault will be carried out from the S or NE. We don’t expect the enemy to have a decisive fighting capability at this point if any, so the assault will only be carried out if necessary. Otherwise Deathstar 2 have standing orders to destroy the control tower and runway to prevent its use if the assault fails to be carried out.

    c. Common Provisions
ACE reports will be requested after each firefights or phase.
PLSGT will handle and coordinate all resupply plus 9-liner for MEDEVAC.
All GPS equipment are to be configured before step off. Points of interest are provided in Signal order
Red smoke marks enemy. Green smoke marks friendly. White and purple are used for smoke screens.
VS-17 panels are available for marking LZs and friendly positions for MEDEVAC and CAS.

    4. Service

    a. Eating times
The platoon will only have MRE rations under the operation until supplies arrive, but at H-hour -2 the platoon will eat together at base.

    b. Maintenance
No maintenance until after the operation. Field-strip only.

    c. Transport
Super six 3&4 will handle all transport of supplies, materials, reinforcements and MEDEVAC.

    d. New material
    NIL.

    5. Signal

Well, you have to sign up first, Dredge. Then we can talk about it... (Power over ArmA CO, must abuse it!)

No problem, Chief. This has been a small brainchild of mine for some time now, so seeing it coming to fruition is a great pleasure!

                    Re: Operation Idyllic Autumn INFO

I just realised. When I got ArmAX, I also got a giant real-life map of Chernarus (and Takistan). I can be useful! Just need to find space on the wall to put it somewhere.

Edit: It now has pride of place on my coffee table, held down by various jars of spice from the spice cupboard. The cat seems somehow disturbed by this, as she keeps trying to hide under it. Still, map wench at the ready!

I also have the map that Pepper speaks so highly of but alas I never grew fond of it and I feel bad because I don't have that bond. If there is a person out there that might better use said map, pm me and we can find it a new home.
