  • Shotfinder: Addon - We need your help!

    Good Afternoon everyone!

I'm making this thread to see if I can get some help from the community. What we need is someone willing to let us use their voice for a voiceover for the addon, Shotfinder. Shotfinder is an endeavor to emulate the Boomerang system that is used around the world in real life. The Boomerang is a shot detection system that can pick up the sound of incoming bullets and then tells the user the direction, elevation, and range to the shooter. The system can also determine GPS location (Grid-Ref) and link up with other system to allow for sending data to other friendly units including aircraft. Most if not all of these abilities will be emulated with our system in-game. While we do have some samples in use currently, I do not currently think they are up to par for release to the public.

What we are looking for in a voice is:
    • Relatively monotone/consistent (Doesn't go up and down during speech)
    • On the lower end of the pitch scale (Don't need a voice of an eight year old ;))
    • Relatively generic (A voice that stands out, but can be understood by all)
    • Able to talk slow, clear, and concisely

If you are interested, please PM myself (ZephyrDark) here on the forums. Send a sound file containing you saying the words "Shot, Tweleve O'Clock, 100 Meters".
Once I get a fair number of sample I'll go through the lot I feel sound best and contact you back about furthering your part in the development of Shotfinder.

Again, thank you all for your help, and I hope to be able to release this addon here in the coming week or so.

Now I just need to figure out which one of my mics sounds less crappy.

Do you have a real life example so we can also emulate the real thing?

      Here's an example.

I'd be happy to work on this. I need a full script though.

Right now I just need a single sample so I can determine whose voice has the sound I'm looking for. The basic sample we're going to need for the addon are:
        • Shot
        • 1-12
        • O'Clock
        • 10-200 (Increments of 10)
        • Meters

We'll then send it through some audio processing to give it the right distortion for each sample. After that we're just going to either patch together the sample we need into singular files or we'll have the script call the correct sounds when needed.
