    Ground Rules

    CHECK FIRE!
Once on the server, hold your fire until specifically instructed to do so. This is very important so that your instructor can address everyone without background noise of weapons fire or explosions.
Listen to your instructor and follow their directions.

It is important that everyone listen to the instructor and be ready to follow instructions so that the material in the module can be covered in a timely manner. The more the instructor has to be off-topic the longer the module will take to complete.

    Minimize Com Chatter.
Questions are greatly encouraged as part of the learning process, but many people may have questions at once. Instructors will address your questions when it is appropriate.

    How Spots Are Assigned:
The first priority will be given to Supporting Members above non-Supporting Members. Followed by Pathfinders, and non-Supporting members.

A reserve list will be made up when all the playing spots are filled. Supporting members, once again, have priority. When a player with a spot cancels, they will be replaced by the first person on the reserve list.

    How to sign up?

Important, Players who are no-show without notice for a session will be precluded from participating in the following session for the game where they were absent.
Don't let your team mates down! Only sign up if you can make it.
Because class spaces are limited, please don't take a spot unless you're confident you can play.

To sign up, please simply reply with the following format:

    1) Your Forum name:
    2) Your in-game name :
    3) Supporting member (yes/no):
    4) Are you a Pathfinder? (yes/no):

Please reply to this message with the above information if you wish to sign up.

Players will be signed up on a first-come first-served basis.
Supporting Members get precendence in the order they sign up, then Non-Supporting Members afterwards.
Your SM status at the time of signup determines which list you will be on.
Once you post, you cannot become a SM later to work your way up the list.
You can cancel, but if you reconfirm, you will find yourself at the bottom of the roster.
You may not hand over your spot to another specific player.
Your spot will be given to the next available player.
Most importantly, do not be late!

    NOTE:
This is not a duplicate course posting! It is a second offering at a different time/date of the same mortar class.

This signup for thursday night, (tonight) at 0030 ZULU (8:30PM East Coast USA).

The other signup is for Sunday afternoon, 1400-1600 ZULU. (Note the time zone change means it will be 9am East Coast Time.)

Gartha, can I skip the Basic variant of this course and attend this Intermediate one instead? My intent is to learn enough depth of the system from a command (SL and FTL) position so that I can adequately direct or redirect personell if I'm ever required. Since I don't wish to learn the system from the FO's or operator perspective I surely don't need the Advanced variant.

      Please advise.

In the interest of time, if this you believe this class is good for me, my info follows:

      2) Your in-game name : Riyker
      3) Supporting member No
      4) Are you a Pathfinder? No

          Riyker,

I am torn on this. On the one hand I would like to teach you, as I feel that 1.) more students is merrier and 2.) I feel that having a leader that knows how to use/direct arty is great. (and 3.) I really appreciate you wanting to take the time to learn this! It's awesome man.) And 4.) I see what you are saying about wanting to learn it from the commander's perspective, not the arty crew.

On the other hand, there are real arguments against what you are asking. There is the issue of fairness to other people who have been told, with good reason, the basic arty course is a pre-requisite for this course. The loading and gunning taught in basic will be used in this course, I am not just making it a prerequisite for my own amusement. This is an intermediate step towards the advanced course. Also, if I make an exception, I will likely get several requests for exceptions, and will then be stuck trying to draw a line between them. Fairness issues come up quickly, and I want to be fair to everyone.

The third option would be to create a smaller and shorter course focused entirely on being an FO. (That is part of this course, but only part.) This would be good for overall commanders or FOs, but not cover how to actully fire the missions. I am against this becuase I think you will lose the deeper understanding. But it is possible, and I could do it given a couple of weeks.

You see the problem from my perspective? For these reaons I would really perfer that you take the basic course, and then the intermediate.

Re: TGU Intermediate Artillery Course + Mortar Module

Not a problem -- the reason I asked was that I did not see any pre-requisite class requirements mentioned.

Let me know if you come up with a more appropriate class or if I should just do Basic alone, as you suggested.

              Thanks.

My failure to post pre reqs correctly is not your fault. You should be able to rely on the posting as it stands.
You are welcome to attend tonight as a result.

                    NOTE TO STUDENTS:

I will likely to be late tonight. (15-30 minutes late.) Something just came up that will delay me a bit. However, THE CLASS IS STILL ON. If you do not see me on time at 0030, I will try to be there within 30 minutes of the start time. (by 0100 zulu) I am sorry for any inconvience this may cause you, rest assured it was not my plan.

                    Thanks,
                    Garthra

I listened in for a bit last night and was very impressed with Garthra's expertise and teaching skills. I will try to sign up myself for the next one. West coast time is a challenge during the week.
