    This will be the thread where the OPORD will be posted & discussion will happen regarding the mission Nov 24th.

    The Alpha II server has been configured to run I44 and will be up & running shortly after the Tactical Gamer University Signals Course is over today.

    Can we please please please Have acre as one of the mods......

    TS or Ingame would be a game breaker for me.

    Obviously only RCO radio dudes would have radios everyone else would be on talk.

      No radios. No acre. Thats the way it wuz. We toyed with the idea of giving the RTO's a 343 but still is over powered. This allows the broader community access to the event as well.

          As much As I love it that we are getting other communities coming to play this mod mission along with the non modded aram2 players

          I feel that downloading acre along with the I44 mod is no big deal.
          Also as we are running a server to prepare for the mission.
          If we run the I44 along with acre ... we can run alot of test to make sure everyone is on the same page and that everyone has the mod running as they should be..


          ACRE adds so much to the immersion that I feel like a cheat when I don't use it...


          To summarize.... I think the addition of downloading acre and getting it to work far outweighs the argument of not downloading and using it............

            After playing I44 for nearly four hours this evening on ALPHA II I have come to two conclusions;

            1. It is a fantastic mod and cannot wait to play more of it.

            2. The use of ACRE is sadly missed, people shouting over each other, mix that in with the sounds of people screaming for medics, bullets whizzing past, mortars dropping in close and all the other sounds of war, confusion sets in quickly.

            Not using ACRE doesn't feel right, I suppose you could say it just feels, wrong? You can hear people on the other side of a town like there stood right next to you, also (this is my main peev.) lets take an example, two Fire teams opposite ends of a town both coming under heavy fire. Due to ACRE not being used, both FT's are shouting out different contacts, directions, distances and so on. The two FT's start confusing each others contact reports as well as not being able to hear everything that is being said, thus not reaching their full potential as a fire team due to the extra time added on by the confusion. My last point is the rule of "Dead men can't talk" because ACRE is not on it is easy for somebody just to say "Oh, I'm down by the rock next to the yellow house." or "Yea, I'm down, but watch out cos there's a guy standing with a MP40 watching the door." I think you see where that is going.

            Simply what I am pleading here is the addition of the ACRE mod into the preset for I44, I know I am not the only player who feels the same way as this matter was discussed on the server tonight. I hope to see the ACRE mod added but ultimately the decision is in the hands of the admins. :)

              I feel I should clarify... :)

              I dont want personal radios for every infantry man ....
              I feel a 119 or a 343 for RCOs ONLY would be enuf to simulate the "SCR-300 Walkie-Talkie Radio Set" -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCR-300
              Failing that No radios at all but with acre as the 3D directional direct sound system.

                +1 BL1P, i belive other communities will like ACRE as we are and it will set their playfun on highter level. We can try. If they will need help with ACRE I can be 1st who show them it, just PM.

                    You can actually walk up to the ACRe man packs and do just that...shift alt q use and then a popup appears to the rto and the commander allowing him to speak.

                    Further some technical specs from the army operating manual.

                        How will the radio communications work without acre? Is there some ingame radio system that comes with the I44 mod or will commanders have to rely on runners and 2 tin cans and a string? :D

                              +1 on the realism and no radios, but also +1 on using ACRE.

                              :icon3: Let us not forget how much better ACRE is in modifying and handling the direct speaking than VON in the virtual 3D space.

                              As mentioned, you can hear people on the other side of a town like they were standing right next to you in VON -- this is the worse aspect of covering that interferes with the realism aspect. :row__682:

                              ACRE + no radios would be more true to the historical experience IMHO.


                              Is the goal of this event to promte new visitation? I mean, shouldn't the visitors were trying to cater to need to go this route in the end anyway?

                              I feel like, for large events, that we should always try to maximize the best possible experience for our existing player base. :icon14: ...which in turn also benefits new players and guest experiences, no?
