  • [EVENT] Sunday Event - Spring Cleaning - 11-05-14

    WARNO

    SITUATION
Intel has been obtained that a possible weapons and arms cache is in the area of our operations. Tactical Gamer Unit has been tasked with investigating, securing and destroying any found assets

    ENEMY
Tensions are high in the area and CSAT has inserted forces in the local population under fear of reprisals from their strengthening forces in the North West. Units should be on high alert for them in the AO.

AAF troops are neutral to NATO in the AO as are any rebel forces. This is an active town so civilians are present.

    FRIENDLY
Other than NATO forces in your squad in the AO there are no other friendly forces that can be called on to aid in any situation.

    MISSION
Intel indicates that there are possible ammo and weapons caches in the town of Agios Dionyosis. Further intel on locations will be in an upcoming OPORD.

This mission will take place on Sunday, May 11, 2014 1900Z.

Squads will assemble for SL mission briefing at Mission -15 and will drop into the base sharply at Mission start.

Mission will not commence until Mission +20 as the intel satellite will not be in place until that time. This will also give SL and FTLs time to assemble their teams and give them any final orders before the mission.

Satellite will only be on station for two hours and forty-five minutes. Command anticipates the mission to take no longer than one hour and thirty minutes so the window of the satellite should not be a factor.

Civilian losses are to be kept at a minimum (zero) as this may destabilize the region if our actions are considered hostile by the locals.

    OBJECTIVES
Locate arms and weapons caches and destroy them.

    LOGISTICS
Command will be providing ground assets and limited intel via Satellite over watch. Satellite comms will be via SatCom and the SL can assign any team member as the holder of the SatCom capability.

Squads and fire teams will be setup in standard groupings.

Squad and Team Leads should contact this command office (step forward - contact Solo) for additional information, briefings and to request additional assets as soon as possible.

        OPORD

        SITUATION
Command has Intel that a number of possible weapons and arms caches are in the area of our operations. Four have been identified for Tactical Gamer Unit to investigate, secure and destroy. Locations of suspected weapons caches are indicated on the included map attached to this OPORD.

        ENEMY
The past 48 hours have seen an increase in both tensions and activity of CSAT in the area. CSAT has inserted a number of small highly motivated forces in the local population under fear of reprisals from their strengthening forces in the North West. Local leaders have contacted the intelligence community and other intelligence sources in the area seeking assistance in fear of the local population. Units should be on high alert for CSAT teams in the AO.

The increased tensions have led to a buildup of both AAF troops and rebel forces in the area. Both are neutral to NATO but units should be on the alert as the situation is fluid and various factions could turn against NATO forces at any time. The AO is an active town, civilians are present and commanders should take special care when operating in and around civilian populations.

        FRIENDLY
Other than NATO forces in your squad in the AO there are no other friendly forces that can be called on to aid in any situation. Command has secured a number of emergency extract points should teams get into difficult situations but given the nature of the operation and the political tensions and the presence of civilians in the AO, CAS and other area fire support will not be authorized for any reason.

        MISSION
Intel indicates four possible ammo and weapons caches in the town of Agios Dionyosis. The latest INTEL indicates that the CSAT moves the caches on a regular basis and that any or all of the locations may contain assets to be destroyed. Additionally, given the nature of the assets and their value to the CSAT units should expect increased protection forces in locations that contain assets.

        OBJECTIVES
Proceed to the indicated locations and secure and destroy all weapons, arms, ammunition, explosives or other assets used in the production or manufacture of armaments.

Return to base with all assets and men for debrief.

        GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Units will rally at the NATO Military Base at the Altis International Airport near Gravia.

A maximum of two full squads is approved for the mission and command has authorized two HMG hunters and two standard troop hunters for the operation.

Squads will kit out at the direction of their SLs and FTLs. SLs should equip squads with explosive experts to destroy any assets found.

The operation will be a daylight operation and take place at 1500 Local time and commence at Mission +20 when satellite support will be on station over the AO.

Command will provide a single SATCOM link to Intel Corps for purposes of over watch. Squads are advised not to operate outside of SATCOM visual range (image attached) as intel will not be available and strength and force numbers are unknown at this time outside of the AO. SL can designate any single team member as the holder of the SatCom capability.

While local weapons and assets needs will attempt to be met, squads should load out as standard NATO 4 man fire teams and 8 man squads as per normal chain. Headgear will be provided to assist in distinguishing Squads and Fire Teams.

        SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Special care should be taken not to destroy or harm any local landmarks, local places of worship, structures, local livestock or vehicles.

Civilian casualties are to be minimized (zero) at all costs. This is a “hearts and minds” mission as much as a secure destroy mission. Take special care to work with locals and maintain a high level of NATO professionalism in the AO at all times.

                      SITUATION

UPDATE – Weather at our transport base in Turkey has prevented a number of the men in the attacking unit from arriving at the base to take place in this operation, but due to the critical nature of the operation command has authorized the mission to continue with a reduced force. It is questionable at this time if the remaining elements will arrive, and commanders on the ground are building operational plans for both contingencies.

To compensate for the potentially smaller strike force local command has requested and USAREUR has approved a night operation into the AO to take advantage of both operational time and the element of surprise. Operations will commence at 0200 local time and will be based on a stealth operation. Units tasked with this Operation are instructed to check in with their SL at the standard “Mission -15” for updates and instructions prior to heading out.

Additionally, command has authorized the use of a small format UAV for local local INTEL support. Satellite support has been re-tasked and will be available in the AO for a two hour and forty five minute window, but the local UAV will be in a better position to give close support to the elements on the ground.

Once the operation begins the attacking force will be “locked in”. Additional troops that arrive on location at the airbase may be in-filled based on the status of the Operation and the input of the local SL on the ground. Arriving troops are instructed to hold at the designated point (Designated – Point LOBBY) and check in with Command via the SATCOM on the field (Solo).
