A quick brush up on Basic Infantry can't hurt if your prepping for the mission today.

          SitRep
          Reports
          Communication - not just leaders

What I want to go over today is how Squad leadership works. How hands on the squad leader is. How each element of the squad is generally used when travelling, at a halt and maneuvering.

In addition, I want to do some review of some of the techniques a leader employs to evaluate a situation, and some that the team should be well aware of. Things like METT-TC, SLLS, SALUTE, SitRep, LocStat, CLAP, Fire Conditions, Movement Orders, ect...

METT-TC is an acronym that is used to help a leader assess a situation.
M - Mission situation, mission objectives, mission tasks both overt and implied, special equipment needed, ect...
E - Enemy forces, what is their make up, what is their location(s), what are their possible Course Of Action (COA), what is their likely COA, possible reinforcements, ect...
T - Troops, what troops, weapons, equipment, transportation, supports, resupply, ect are available for the mission. Will there be reinforcements and how will that be handled, ect...
T - Terrain, what obstacles are there, what avenues of approach, LP/OP, assaulting positions, how does weather and visibility affect terrain considerations, ect...
T - Time, in games we often skimp on the planning as most of the time there is an implied or overt plan in the mission briefing, however what time of day will the mission take place, day or night, dusk or dawn, how will signals be sent for coordination (flare, radio, smokes, ect...), ect...
C - Civilian considerations, hostile or not, what COA should be taken when encountering civilians, ect...

Re: TGU Battle Drill - Squad Leadership & Mission - Jan 4

We had Lee, Potato, Murray, Ramna join us for a bit on this hastily organized drill. There wasn't much to the drill but we had a good discussion on several topics relating to leadership. I really enjoyed the personal experiences you guys shared and hope we can do more of this with our in-game leaders.

It is our Leaders that create the TacticalGamer experience and I'd like to thank all of you who do so!

Now to find time to finish that course material and get it posted....
