Any of you video makers out there know a good, simple software that
    1) cuts/splits video clips
    2) allows you to insert still images for a precise amount of time
    3) shows multiple audio/video tracks?

      Re: Video Editing

I just recently got Adobe Premier Pro but I'm not versed in file formats yet. I keep getting low res outputs that look poor.

However, on the lower price I have been using PowerDirector for years now and at the 80 buck mark it is quite a decent product. I may continue with it until I figure out this Adobe.

Also you might post in the general forums under Video Production.

        Re: Video Editing

I have Adobe Premier pro and it is Very powerful. But since I've been using Shadow Play from Nvidia to record that's been a mess to use. ShadowPlay uses variable framerate recording, and Premier does not. *If* your frame rate during the game stays constant this is never a problem. But if you playing, as ArmA, and your frame rate fluctuates you end up with a sound/video desync issue when you re-incode your edited video in Premier. I understand you can take several steps to re-incode the video at a constant rate before editing (using Handbrake for example) but that's way more effort than I care to put into game play video production myself.

The last couple video I've done I've just used Windows Movie Maker. I've also just switched to using the Windows 10 built in gameplay recorder, but havnt got around to editing any of that video yet (probably never will :) )

          Re: Video Editing

I use NCH VideoPad (the forum won't let me post an URL for some reason). It's cheap ($21 or $35, depending on edition; the website says there is a free version, but I think it's a time-limited trial), there is no subscription, and it is fairly easy to use. I only do basic editing, so I can't really tell how powerful it is, but it works for me.

            Re: Video Editing

prem pro, used it all through uni!
[MENTION=38102]Unkl[/MENTION] what export options are you using?
the best preset, if you want it for uploading, is Vimeo HD 1080p (pick the one that has the correct frame rate)

for manual, i'd use these settings:

            Format: H.264
Checkboxes Export Video and Export Audio

            Basic Video Settings:

            Width: 1,920
            Height: 1,080
            Frame Rate: 23.976
            Field Order:Progressive
            Aspect: Square Pixels (1.0)
            TV Standard: NTSC
            Profile: Main
            Level: 5.1
            Checkbox Render at Maximum Depth

            Bitrate Settings

            Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 2 pass
            Target Bitrate [Mbps]: 10
            Maximum Bitrate [Mbps]: 40

Checkboxes Use Maximum Render Quality and Use Previews

            Basic Audio Settings

            Audio Codec: AAC
            Sample Rate: 48000 Hz
            Channels: Stereo
            Audio Quality: High

            Bitrate Settings

            Bitrate [kbps]: 320

those above settings are pretty much all you'd ever need. Good file sizes and good quality!
