    INTRODUCTION TO DELIBERATE ATTACK DRILL
    SAT NOV 26
1PM EDT (New York) (1hr prior the Unforgiven Event)

Ok, so you know what an L shaped attack is right? One team will act as a Base of Fire and suppress the "known enemy position" and another team will flank to attack from 90 degrees. We do this all the time on the server in a "hasty" way. Such is this video shows a hasty "Reaction to Contact" drill that does the same L shaped attack.

When the enemy position is known, how do you plan and execute an attack on a fixed and fortified enemy position? Well we are glad you asked...

    Link To Larger Picture Above

A deliberate attack is first planned by leadership using METT-T. This is an acronym that stands for:
    • Mission - is the objective to eliminate the enemy position, secure intel from that position, rescue a VIP from that position, will you need to hold against counter-attack or sustain at the position?
    • Enemy - what is the enemy strength and disposition? static emplacements, reinforcements, vehicles, ect...
    • Terrain - is there a covered and concealed route for the assaulting team, what is the distance they will travel?
    • Troops Available - what friendly forces are available, what weapons systems are they using, how fast can they maneuver, how much ammunition can they or should they carry
    • Time Available - how long is the window for the attack, when will enemy reinforcements arrive,

As you can see, there is a lot to consider...and we haven't even scratched the surface! This is why this is an introduction to the Deliberate Attack. We really should call it a "Hasty Attack", but we will run through it in real time first so you get a sense of what the elements are. Then we will break down the roles and considerations for both the Assaulting Team and the Base of Fire Team.

We will not be going over the Leadership elements required to plan this attack in detail. We will touch on those points as required so you grunts know what your leaders are considering. Our plan as TGU Instructors is to get into the Leadership elements later once you have the basic idea.

This will not be a lecture. You will be quickly moved into action with instruction along the way. It will be participatory and your questions and points of interest are expected!

We will be hard pressed to complete this and commence Roll Call for the event but we think it is worth the challenge.

Please indicate your interest in attending so we can plan our logistics for the drill.

FYI our newest TGU Instructor, DMZ SCOUT has put a lot of work into planning this lesson and creating a mission on which to run the drill. Thank you SCOUT for giving your time and effort to our community!

Our third newest TGU Instructor, Badstache, will also be assisting with the drill along with myself. Thank you Badstache for helping out!

This is a seriously well prepared drill that will move quickly. Reserve your spot!
