      MISSION BRIEFING
      SILENT NIGHT DARK NIGHT

      SITUATION
As part of NATO's ongoing campaign to protect the citizens of Altis, Special Operations units have been tasked with capturing a CSAT Scientist that is known to be working on a chemical/biological weapon. Only recently have our intelligence teams been able to pinpoint the research facility. Thanks to local tips, we have identified the island of Makrynisi, west of Pyrgos, as the site being used. We have been aware, for sometime, that the island was being used as a CSAT Rest Center. Knowing that our own rules of engagement prohibited us from assaulting the island, they placed a research building on the SW end of the island. Aerial recon photos show 3 primary structures with a number of smaller buildings, watch towers and bunkers.

      ENEMY
From surveillance imagery we are estimating 40 to 50 CSAT troops on the island. There are static HMG and AA positions that ring the island. Some of these weapons seem to move locations every couple of days, with the exception of ones we have identified at bunkers. The bulk of their hard positions consist of larger bunkers, small towers, and the 3 primary structures already mentioned. Two of these primary structures (center and NE of island) are heavily manned and there is a small medical building located next to the NE most building. We assume it is for the rest center and not part of the research. We have identified two patrols that cover the NE half of the island. We think they are purposely not patrolling the SW portion to keep up the appearances of the Rest Center. We have identified a portable AA unit at the centrally located building that is covering the northern approaches. Enemy troops at this site also have a good view to the NE and SW. Unknown if they have any off island QRF but be alert.

      MISSION
NATO forces will consist of a Sniper/Dive team and an Assault/Dive team. Mission Command will fall under the Sniper/Dive Team Lead. You are to locate and capture the weapons scientist and deliver him to Intel.

      EXECUTION
Recon images show that the target is most likely in or near S-1. Sniper/Dive team will need to clear an avenue of approach for the Assault team and them maintain overwatch once Assault has gone ashore. Use the UAV to identify any enemy positions that could jeopardize your assault and provide current data to the assault section. The assault team is under the command of the SL assigned to the Sniper team. The final assault plan will be left in the hands of the SL. Once the scientist has been secured, assault team will deliver him to the intel officer.

      ROLES and LOADOUTS
Each team member has a designated role and loadouts are provided for those roles. The Sniper and Assault teams have a medic assigned to each and each member also has a FAK. Snipers are equipped with MAR-10 sniper rifles. SL is equipped with the MK-1 EMR marksman rifle and the Sniper Medic is equipped with the MXC. Assault team loadouts are Medic with a suppressed Protector/ACO sight. Assault lead and 3 divers each have the MXC and the final team member is equipped with the ASP-1. All weapons are suppressed and with the exception of the Assault Medic are equipped with Nightstalker scopes. All members are also carrying Laser Designators and thermal NVG's. Each team member has at least 8 mags for there primary weapon. Three SDV's have been provided for the Sniper and Assault teams. You must avoid detection at all times.

      SUPPORT ASSETS
There will be an unarmed little bird on Alert status should it be needed. Due to the AA in the area be careful with the use of the Alert bird. We are working to get an armed fast boat in the AO. If it arrives on time, it could be used to intercept an enemy watercraft.

      RESPAWN, REVIVE, TELEPORT
REVIVE: All personnel can revive with a FAK. FAK is consumed on use. Medics are equipped with additional FAKs and a MedKit and can revive faster.

RESPAWN: There is NO respawn. If you die, you will be in spectator mode. There are no vehicle respawns.

TELEPORT: Because there is no respawn if you lose connection your slot goes away and you cannot rejoin the game.

      COMMUNICATIONS
Communications between Sniper and Assault teams can be carried out by SR or LR radios, unless underwater. SL and TL each have LR radios and once in the little bird the pilot with have LR and the Boat Driver with also have LR. If there is a radio failure you can switch to Global VON.

      HOW MISSION ENDS
This mission can end in 4 ways. There in 1 Mission Success ending by capturing the HVT and delivering him to the intel officer. There are 4 Mission Failed endings. They are; All Blufor troops are killed, the HVT is killed, or the HVT escapes.

      PRE-COMBAT CHECKLIST
      Designate Succession of Command
      Assign Buddy Teams
      Designate Primary and Secondary Medics
      Explain Casualty Action Plan
Designate Primary and Secondary Comms Channels

            FRAGO:

            1. The Navy has advised Command that the armed fast boat will be on station in the area.
            2. Virtual Spectator slots have been added in the event a player loses connection. This will allow them to at least watch the fun.
