  • [INFO] Abad Supply Convoy - Discussion Thread

    SIGN UP THREAD IS HERE

Here is the beginning of the intel for this operation. First the whole route is from the mine at Feruz Abad to Loy Manara Airfield.

Then we have the assets at the mine including the two supply trucks that need to be escorted to the airfield.

Then there is the squad that has already cleared the western side of Sahke and is continuing to clear the North East side of town.

Then we have the airfield where the end trigger is (don't enter it unless you want to end the mission !!!!). The helicopters and pilots spawn here. So does the Recon team. These elements are the only ones allowed to go off the route!

Any other element (or if you are being transported in a helo you can be off route) that does go off route will be placed at the Lonewolf Placement Point!

welp let me throw my 2cents in, this is a long convoy and is a risk of becoming a very long mission. in my mind the pace should be set at a high intensity if we want to make it to the end in a reasonable time. showing up game day with a communicated plan/intention will go a long way here.

IEDs will need to be cleared from the road, and ambushes will need to be endured.

i say these things just to point out that by the nature of our objective we will not be able to "out fox" the enemy with movement. they know where we are and they are waiting. cant go around it, gota go through it.

so with that said. in my mind the key to our success will be how we react to contact.

      -a clear weapons condition.
-preservation of force mindset for each vehicle commander.
      -clockface directions when mounted
-convoy net set to speakers in vics

those just a few examples that come to mind when i think about things we can do to react faster.

the thing im not sure on how one would effectively employ is the recon team.
dismounted they can not keep pace with the mounted convoy, and in the air they can not engage.

how would one suggest keeping the recon team in a place to support the convoy with sighting reports but also place them where they can utilize their special gear.

Here is a brief description on how the convoy route boundary works.

          |TG-Irr| Dimitrius will be leading today's event. He has received an in depth brief and due to the fact that we have been expecting last minute sign ups we have left the slot selections open.

TG players may join in progress as well but at some point we will have to limit JIPs to maintain the integrity of the existing teams and available transportation. So while we may be able to accomodate JIPs, it is not guaranteed.

More mission details. Civilians are expected around towns so check fire. If we injure civilians we will lose the task of hearts and minds.

Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) - We do expect that IED's will be a part of the enemy ambush strategy. EOD is only effective while dismounted so your leader will have a plan to balance when and how to use the walking EOD up front. Walking the entire route is not recommended! (IEDs are not scripted like some of the missions you are used to. You will not see them clearly as they are more realistically placed for concealment.)

          Mission Dev Note:
This mission was designed to allow a leader to choose different assets and so forth to achieve the mission goals. While the mission doesn't require 51 players there is a lot of variety which will be difficult to plan and consider for.

Any leader leading this mission will need to have the cooperation of the other players in taking the time off the top to consider what vehicles you will need to use, what supplies will need to be packed, what Actions On Contact may be deployed....ect...

Logistics are a large part of the process here as the convoy is going to need to be self sufficient along the route. Keep the chatter down at the mission start so that leaders can get us all squared away and enroute as efficiently as possible.
