    What is the maximum player count in Arma 2 ?

    More than you would ever need. I.E. there is none

    It is only limited by how good the server is. Better servers can hold over 100 players.

      HOTMACHINA has a CO-OP 93 player mission uploaded. Its good but i think the most ive ever seen on it is about 40. Most ive ever seen on a TG server at one time was 64, and it ran fine. Id love to see someone buy a godzilla of a computer and run a 200 player mission. Commanding nightmare :)

        Technically it is around here:

        144 * 4 (144 groups per side, 4 sides) * 400. I got sick of copy-pasting units and adding them to a group after around 400, so, it might be higher.

        Something makes me doubt that anything would be able to handle more than 230,400 players though ... ;)

          By then you could probably do a few weapons sections, a few rifle platoons, 2 company CO's, then a CO to set orders for the Company CO's, for them to set about completing with their Platoons...

          Or you could just have a cluster of people and the mission is to wait for an Ordinance Delivery... or...

          The possibilities are endless.

            I believe the server is set to a maximum of 64 players. I've seen it running missions with numbers higher than that but it still says x/64.

            Damnit Blizzard, fix ZvT already >.<

              I think realistically any server will fall apart at around 80 players in a coop game, and that is pushing it.

                the server says /64 when there is no mission loaded.

                if the mission has more than 64 then there will be more than 64 slots

                      Does anyone have any estimates on the max number for the new server? I'd say the old servers could hit about 50. Anyways, maybe we should RV with some other ARMA communities and get a large game in a few months or whatever.

                        New server can do approximately this:
                        Coop: 70-80, assuming very streamlined and high-playercount-oriented mission design. 80 may be optimistic; I've seen it up to 70 in A1 and A2 with playable results, but I don't know if it would scale much past that.
                        Adv: 100-130, again assuming the above.

                        It'd be nice if the game's netcode and server were a bit beefier and could handle beyond that, but at present that does not appear to be the case. It's very easy for things to "fall down go boom" once you get up to those kinds of playercounts, unfortunately, and there are some aggravating weird things that can happen in the 50-60 player range (and up) that can make the process more painful than it should be.
