looks like it suffers from alot of same things that sahrani was notrious for.... cramming tons of different terrain into a small area, and surrounding every objective area with huge moutains, effectively making all the towns/villages/areas of interest in giant bowls, perfect for snipers...

Don't want to bash the guys work too much, it looks phenominal and definitely would be nice for a scenic misson or one like the "life" series, but for me I dont see an island like this ideal for milsim gameplay (just my opinion).

I'd love to see an "island" of realistic terrain, like for example Afghanistan's helmand province, would be awesome but of course tons of work on statics, textures and vegitation. Avgani and Afghan Village were alright but a bit small and lacked a lot of detail I think when compared to Cheranus. Helmand province has tons of river valley's with loads of vegitation, irrigation ditches, compounds, etc, perfect I think for squad and platoon level tactics.

I think the island looks like tahoe!

      Very realistic for northern california.

Well maybe smaller style missions might fare better ie my above post like a SF boat insertion style, airport raid etc.

To add to fuzz's comments, IceBreakr's A2 version of this island was significantly reduced in size during his overhaul (in regards to his A1 Panthera), moving it from 40x40 km to only 10x10 km. I've heard comments that alot of the geographical features, while looking and expected to be large and time-consuming to navigate, can be traversed in minutes.

I guess it's just a question of someone making it. Unfortunately the creator of Avgani seems to have become "disgusted" with the BI forums and left, so I guess an A2 Avgani is unlikely. However, a Helmand-style map seems like it should be easier to make compared to Avgani, since it's mostly fields and doesn't need a lot of building placement. On the other hand, it wouldn't cater to the 90% of MP servers running Domination, Warfare and so on, which rely on cities for capture objectives. Maybe an in-house production for TG?

Though from what I know, which is admittedly little, of RL operations in Helmand, it is a pretty low-population zone traversed mostly by caravans of IFVs or other vehicles, and not so much by walking. Still, there's nothing stopping a virtual version from being more infantry-friendly.

It seams like every map for Arma1 and Arma2 is loaded with mountains. Can we for once have a nice flat map with gentle rolling hills.

Hi guys, tnx for testing out my A2 map v1.1 :)

I would like to inform you that new much improved version v2.3 will be out very soon (beta testing completed).
Here's a shot of the latest build:
                vojak.si/photos/panthera_v23_opFearlock.jpg (1400x1072)

Terrain is based on a real world - NW part of Slovenia, EU. Along with all the major road networks and stuff like that. Its too bad I had to resize it for a sim but at least it got released in less than 3 months (for A1, now converted fully to A2);)

Next project will be a subtropic world Isla Duala, deserts and also lush jungles where there's abundance of water ;) map will be fictional, divided by two waring countries with only a river in between them... and a dry river bed ;)

p.s. I really dunno what arcade shooter OFP2 is doing on TG's frontpage :)
