Tactical Tuesday (May26) - Enemy Assault

I came in at 8pm central time. But the game was already underway. When I asked what was needed, a leader role was requested. I slotted in as one of the Squad leaders and jumped into the main force. Out of three objectives, one was already completed. Two remained. Unkl gave me his large squad with Noyava in charge of the other smaller squad. The enemy was AAF

    Objective 1:

We were supposed to raid a collection of blocks in Molos and look for a suitcase containing important documents. My team of 10 guys were divided into two 4-man fireteams and we pushed into town. Fighting was non-stop as we pushed and searched house to house for the intel. Red team found the suitcase after some time and we regrouped for the second objective in Molos.

    Objective 2:

The second objective was close. A POW is held somewhere in Molos and we were supposed to fight our way in to find and rescue him. A couple of compounds were identified as of interest and we pushed into the zone. Again, fighting was non-stop. With the large numbers we had, it was an organized chaos of gunfire, yelling and clearing. seg[dev] who I have not seen in a while (welcome back) found the hostage. Once we had the hostage, we had to ex-filtrate in one piece with the package. Little did we know, it would be the hard part.

    Extraction:

The hostage was an unarmed man. He could walk, and run. I assigned Blue-team to provide close range security while, Noyava's team and Red-team (Unkl lead) scouted ahead and cleared in front of us. The plan was to setup a HLZ and extract via a helicopter. I broadcasted on side channel for anybody at base who could fly in a large helicopter for the extraction. Luckily Craig Homes who just joined the game took up the task. Once he made it to the Helicopter station at base, he reported that all the helicopters were MIA. Somebody took them and put them somewhere. :icon21:

Luckily, Noyava's team fetched a civilian large truck and we retreated to the north of Molos. Because of lack of capacity, Noyava and red team moved on foot to the RV point. They met some heavy resistance on the way.. Blue team and I were waiting at the RV point. We heard constant gunfire as Red team and Noyava were in a firefight just behind a crest from us. As we had the hostage, we only waited and listened. In the meantime, Craig Holmes - the pilot who did not find any helicopter at base - was driving a HEMMT transport truck from Airfield to Molos. It is a long drive. As he approached, he asked in command channel whether he can cut through an open field instead of following a set of waypoints... I gave him the go ahead... See what happens in this short video (captured by to WaScotty's cam).

As we listened Red-team and Noyava fighting just beyond a small hill we heard a heavy machine gun and a whole bunch of our guys going down. By the sound of it, Blue team was within reach to flank this heavy MG. Blue team gathered and moved out to meet the heavy MG sound. Both Noyava's team and the red team sustained heavy casualties according to the radio chatter. Blue-team pushed and pushed to find a fireteam on the road. Firefight ensued and blue-team prevailed. The poor medic in our squad named Krokleg was stretched thin between 12 guys. As we worked to treat this mass casualty situation, I think we lost a couple of guys due to bleedout. The situation was just too dire.

We only had the civilian cargo truck and too many people to transport. Red team and Blue team mounted up in the truck and we left Noyava's team on foot behind. We never heard from Noyava team again. They were all killed.

Fortunately, a new batch of reinforcements arrived at base. As we were travelling with an unarmed un-armored civilian truck I requested an escort from these reinforcements, They mobilized 3 Armed Hunter MATVs and drove out to meet us on the MSR. Halfway we met and a four vic convoy was formed. With the hostage now in a relatively safe situation we were almost home. As we moved even in the last few miles, we encountered sporadic fire and grenades making this gaming session full of action from start to finish. The convoy engaging on the move and soldiers firing their rifles from the back of the truck, we made it back with the hostage intact.

Great teamwork by the soldiers, Noyava and Unkl's help as leaders was very appreciated. Hoping for more sessions like that one. I had a blast leading blue team.

Scotty - your video doesn't even capture the full tradget of the Epic Drive of Craig Holmes.

My whole team was carefully engaging at least a squad of EI to the east. We had no cover but the hill crest so we were popping up, firing a couple shots, and dropping back. We knew we couldn't win, but we just needed to hold back the enemy from Advancing on the extract point B's team was holding. Staying alive was top priority as our medic was lost in the city (AFK). The guys were dong great in this holding action.

The whole time I was tracking Craig's advance by radio. I was sure he was on the road to the West, behind us. Then we see a truck tearing like a bat out of hell from the enemy controlled town. I almost opened fire before recognizing the nose end of a Hemmit. Inside, one assume, Craig had flight of the Valkeryries on way, way too loud and couldn't hear the gun fire bouncing off he truck - or my increasingly frantic warnings that he was about to drive right into the squad we were engaging.

This is when things went bad. I yelled to my team to pour as much surpressive fire as we could to cover the truck. Everyone came up at once and unloaded on the enemy. The enemy turned from the truck to us and returned heavy fire. Three of the four men in my team went down in less than 5 seconds. As I fell I hear a rocket roar past me. Second later bits of hemmit were raining down on us.

Somehow Gogeta survived the massacre and heroically pulled all thee of his downed teammates to safety. He should get a medal for his bravery and dedication to his team - but the paperwork seems really complex ;)

I know I have some more bits and pieces of it, but decided not to up it due to a lot of cussing.

That was a lot of fun, great AAR(as always).

That was intense! I can honestly remember the point where my brain just went "eh, this might as well happen" and I just gave no regard for my own safety and went on a stabalize/drag mission behind the crest... I still cannot believe I was able to get all of you that far away without taking a fatal shot... Then, just when I thought it was all over.. here comes B and the rest of the guys over the hill behind me yelling "ok who's down... get a medic over there..." Times like these
