  • Everyone Please Read

So I decided to Flood the forum again and ask a serious question. How often do leaders (CO/SL) actually put in awards? I was thinking about this last night when I was checking on one that I submitted. I think that the [TG]ArmA guys need to start looking at this and taking it seriously. We really should recognize/reward players. Its a good way to show that the command is watching and that they have the ability to be rewarded for thier preformance. It would give players something to strive for. Like our qual badges that we have been talking about. I really think that the community can become closer because of this. Now, I'm not saying we need to bombard the admin with awards but we need to start looking at awarding some. I know some of you might not want to take the time to write it up and make it pretty and submit it so I volunteer to work awards for the ArmA guys here. If the commanders/squad leaders want to recognize someone from the game send me a PM telling the who/what/why/when/where and I will type it up send it back for you to read and send it up to the [TG]Admin to get processed and hopefully get the award back for that person. If something like this is already in place please let me know, however if its not, I will certainly get the ball rolling. ArmA Admin please let me know.

Got it. But I still want to know if people are actually doing it. I can do it for the ArmA guys if no one has the time...I'm ALWAYS on. Plus it will make it a little easier for people to get them. Maybe knowing they wont have to sit for an hour and write a pretty award letter they might be apt to suggest people for awards.

The last one I wrote took about 30 minutes, and to date has not been acted upon, that does not mean it won’t be, it just means the process is taken seriously.

I hope the system for the application of ribbons maintains a high standard that requires effort on the part of the submitter otherwise they will become nothing more than candy awards.

I can't be 100% sure, but I think it does go on.

A good point to make tho, some of the stuff that goes on at TG ArmA theres never to much rewarding :D

It might be cool for the admins to post a congratulations thread, similar to the Project Reality forums, to get the ribbon system in the ArmA eye.

with ribbons...please be patiant.... i have written ribbons and it has taken up to two and a half weeks to go through the nomination process. when the ribbon nom is submitted it then has to go to a council where admins vote to see if there is enough information given in the ribbon nom. trust me its nice when people are JUST forgetting that a mission took place and BAM!!!! there are the ribbons :) keep them comming

Whether others are creating nominations or not, I would highly recommend that you create them if you see something worth a nomination. Admins take into consideration multiple nominations. So don't hold back. :)

                Here's how the process flows.

Gamer A sees Gamer B do something cool and takes the time to write an appropriate nomination for it. Gamer A submits it to the Submit Award sub-forum. The awards guy, Ribbons, goes through the submitted nominations, makes sure all the necessary information is included, and then posts that nomination in the appropriate forum within the admin-only award voting forum. Each admin team gets their own sub-forum for their specific game, while the TG-wide ribbon nominations are posted in the general forum (Volunteer nominations, etc). We vote on it yay, nay, or not enough info, then Ribbons tallies the votes up and confirms or denies the nomination.

Submit those nominations. They do eventually get voted on, it just takes time.

Generally, a well-written nomination will make it through the process to be awarded. That, and the nomination has to meet the criteria of the ribbon.

More often than not, nominations will be accepted simply because the people who take the time to write out a nomination will usually have a good story to tell and some time to devote to writing it up.

                        Re: Everyone Please Read

They take a lot of time from what ive heard from others. Plus even when you get them you cant keep track. I have absolute no idea how many ive gotten or what they were in, I know at least 1 was a medic ribbon. I think there is a master thread but if i remember right its eye bleeding long and a pain to go through.
I know well enough when i'm doing a good job and when i'm messing around though, so I guess i just don't see the point to them. Its not that i have a problem with them existing its just that I ignore them.
