I think I need an upgrade (getting rid of Vista). I noticed that vewing distance doesn't make much of a difference until it reached 6000. Between that and 10000, my fps drops by 5-10.

I notice that your FPS's are pretty even whereas mine are way up or way down! I wonder what' happening.

      Radeon x1600

Settings: Everything is on low or off except normal textures, resolution is 1280x1024. I get an average of about 24 FPS.

        Re: Whats Your Fps

I just started playing, and my FPS are all over the place, from between 20 up to 60, and it can swing back and forth in an instant. Most of the time is in the 30s range, and stuck on 30 when I record with FRAPS.

Copy and pasted from the Hardware TG forum:

Case: Antec p182 (best case ever!)
Motherboard type: Asus p5K Deluxe Wi-Fi
        CPU(Speed & type): Intel q6600 quad stock @2.4, oc @ 3.0
        Video Card: EVGA 8800GTS 640mb
        Sound Card: Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer
Memory: Corsair Dominator 4x1gig @1066 speed
        Hard Drive(s): 1x 74gig WD raptor, 1x Segate 320gig
        OS: Vista Home 64
        SLI(yes/no): nope
PSU(type&watts): Corsair 620watts with modular cable connections

Running at 1680x1050 rez, and have been trying the settings up and down, but still seems the same if have things on normal or high. I really don't understand how it can look only a little better than old GR, but run like Crysis :(
Thing is, when I look over at my hardware monitors in my 2nd screen, my CPU is only at like 50% on 1 core, and the memory usage is really low. So I'm guessing that my GPU is holding me back.

The video card(s) are 2 8800GTXs OCed in SLI. I am running Corsair Dominator TWIN2X2048-9136C5D (1142Mhz), which is also OCed to a little over 1275 Mhz and 2.3 volts. The processor is a Q6600, again over clocked but that is running at 3.4Ghz.

ArmA is a hog on resources, if your rig can handle it is is a thing of beauty when firing on all cylinders.

                  Re: Whats Your Fps

I've got one 8800GT, and I run everything on highest with a view distance of 3000 getting 60-70 fps. The game is pretty sweet looking.

Not having Vista is the reason I still use a computer. If I had to use that piece of junk I'd drop gaming in a moment.

You would all be surprised how friendly Vista 64 is towards gaming. It enhances allot of games and make application switching (alt/tab) instant, no more waiting a minute to tab out of a game.
