  • Thermal image on weapons and Items

    Does anyone know how to disable the abilty to use TI on weapons like the Titan and or on the Items like the Laser designator ?

    I have managed to disable the TI on all vehicles using :-

    _vehicle disableTIEquipment true; in the .sqf that creates the vehicles or in the vehicles init.

    But cant figure out how to do the same for weapons or items.

      make a script that uses http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/currentVisionMode + http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/currentWeapon + http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/primaryWeapon + maybe http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Actions
      or if you dont want to i can :row__579::icon14:
      these would work if switching back to a weapon that had IR active would make it default to non IR view

        Re: Thermal image on weapons and Items

        Thanks Yink that does help alot.

        At the moment im using this :-

        Code:
        while {true} do
        {
        	if (currentVisionMode player == 2) then
        		{
        		  //hint "Thermals are active";
        			if ( (primaryWeapon player) != "") then
        				{
        				  private['_type', '_muzzles'];

        				  _type = primaryWeapon player;
        				  // check for multiple muzzles (eg: GL)
        				  _muzzles = getArray(configFile >> "cfgWeapons" >> _type >> "muzzles");

        				  if (count _muzzles > 1) then
        					  {
        						player selectWeapon (_muzzles select 0);
        					  }
        				  else
        					  {
        						player selectWeapon _type;
        					  };
        				};
        		};
        		sleep 1;
        };

        But this is a little un elegant to say the least. It just forces the player to swap to primary weapon if he uses thermals.

        Do you know of a way to force the currentVisionMode on the player ?

        so i could do something like

        Code:
        while {true} do
        {
        	if (currentVisionMode player == 2) then
        		{
        		force (currentVisionMode player == 0)
        		};
        		sleep 1;
        };
        which would be much neater in-game but obviously force was just an example.

          Re: Thermal image on weapons and Items

          you could have it cut to black and tell them to press their dik keycode for switching vision modes http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/actionKeys. make it convincing in game like saying "TI Mode Disabled: Equipment needs Maintenance"

          this works:
          Code:
          while {true} do
          {
          	if (currentVisionMode player == 2) then
          		{
          			//hint "Thermals are active";
          			cutText ["IR Mode Requires Maintenance. Please see technician immediately.","BLACK",-1];
          			waituntil {currentVisionMode player != 2};
          			0 cutFadeOut 0;
          		};
          		sleep 1;
          };
          im not sure what locality issues there are with cuttext, but if there isnt any this works fine.

            An example would be great if you have time.

            I am already using a cut to black option when a player has a weapon in his inventory that doesn't belong to his class and it stays black till he drops the weapon.
            I think Ill be altering that to an automatic drop weapon though.

            Thanks in advance.

              Using this now works well.

              Code:
              _layer = 85125;

              while {true} do
              {
              	if (currentVisionMode player == 2) then
              		{
              		  	//hint "Thermals are active";
              			_layer	cutText ["FLIR Mode Requires Maintenance. Please Turn off Thermals.","BLACK",-1];
              			waituntil {currentVisionMode player != 2};
              			_layer cutText ["", "PLAIN"];
              		};
              		sleep 1;
              };
              Added to my ever growing restrictions folder :)

              Thanks yink.
