  • A problem...

    Chaps,

    I am using a few triggers to introduce a few massages that I only want Blufor to see. However when I use the "Activated by - Blufor" and then "Detected by Blufor" the enemy force also see's the message on screen.....

    Any ideas or tips?

    Or maybe use the hint method instead?

    Re: A problem...

    on activation put this:

    Code:
    if ( side player == EAST) then { player globalChat "I am east!"; };
    if ( side player == WEST) then { player globalChat "I am west!"; };
    Only players that are west will see the west chat, only players that are east will see the east chat. Every player will see it as if they said it.

      Thank you mate, thats a nice option...

      I presume there is no way of doing it with Trigger text messages?

        I believe you will find your answer here:

        http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/titleText

        Put the code shown there in the same scope as the globalChat.

          Why dont you use 'Side chat' instead of 'Global'

            Yeah I will use the sidechat... that link for title text shows me what I already have, but unfortunately it is visible to all....so I think the side channel is the best option....

            Ideally a radio message would be good, with the radio beep, etc..

              playSound "soundname"

              Make it play a 'beep'

                Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I think they should be kept private.

                    Afaik (if it stays the same for ArmA1/2 as for OFP) triggers are activated locally (on each player's computer) when the conditions are met on that computer only (this can also cause gameplay inconsistencies for different players if trigger conditions are not met on one computer - e.g. due to lag). Activation commands are run on each computer where the trigger was activated, so player side check would be mandatory (as in DLBlue's example).

                      Oi Jorge....no turning this into a filthy commentary! ;)

                      Trust me the messages are pretty mission critical.

                      DLBlue, with regards your example... instead of using the global or side chat, would it be possible to have the mssage come up in a Hint?
