  • 3d editor to 2d editor

    Tried placing units in a building in the 3d editor and exporting it to the 2d editor. The units spawn in the right place and on the right side and everything, but their init lines do not fire, resulting in them walking off the top of the building to their deaths and not spawning with weapons. Any help would be appreciated.

    Does it have something to do with the placement of processInitCommands?

    double check your initialization line for each unit. It looks like you have syntax errors in them. For example, I am seeing this:

    I believe any syntax error in the init line of a unit might cause it to completely ignore the line or stop at the point it found the error.

      The double quotation marks, right? I didn't put those there.... thats how the 3d editor exported them, i'm not sure what's up with that. What I put in the "init expression" line for the unit editing was correct: i.e. this addWeapon "MP5A5";

            yeah, the double quotations are needed because it is inside another quotation:

            EX:
            Code:
            player sideChat "I need "" (double quotations) to show the quotation.";
            this will display in side chat:

            I need " (double quotations) to show the quotation.

                  It is useless for most things but it is extremely useful for placing static objects (especially towns) and for placing AIs in buildings. It would have taken me days of frustrating trial and error to populate my mission's target building with AI using the 2d editor, I did the same in about 15 minutes with the 3d editor.
