  • [Script Compilation] US Army Loadouts

    File download (.rar) : loadouts.rar

    The folder contains 17 US Army loadouts. The scripts allow for setting up loadouts that can be determined to be a little more realistic as well as allow for the use of the US Army Men (Woodland Camo) with modern day equipment. These scripts are set up with ACE equipment such as goggles and ear plugs as well as DAGRs for units that would need them.

    The folder contains loadouts for the following:
    • US Army Team Leader
    • US Army Squad Leader
    • US Army Platoon Leader
    • US Army Platoon RTO
    • US Army Rifleman CCO
    • US Army Rifleman RCO
    • US Army Pilot
    • US Army Machinegunner
    • US Army MG Ammobearer
    • US Army Medic
    • US Army Grenadier CCO
    • US Army Grenadier RCO
    • US Army Driver
    • US Army AT Gunner Javelin
    • US Army Ammo Handler Javelin
    • US Army Automatic Rifleman CCO
    • US Army Automatic Rifleman RCO

          I just did, but WinRAR is trying to open the files in Adobe Reader, which is giving me the following error message:

          "Adobe Reader cannot open 'USARMY_AR.sqf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."

          I've tried it for all the files. Why is it trying to use Adobe and how do I fix it?

            Don't know if this will work but try opening up on your desktop. Then cut and paste those files into the folder you need them in.

              Re: [Script Compilation] US Army Loadouts

              Just some more details, I've downloaded the WinWRAR program. When I click on the loadouts and download the .rar file it gives me the option to either save or open in WinWRAR. Even if I save it to my desktop and open through WinWRAR from there, it lists all the individual files as Adobe docs (the little icon next to the file is the Adobe icon).

              IDK, I get the feeling I might be missing an important step or two, I've never tried opening a .rar file before lol

                Hang in there Jim37f, someone I am sure will be able to sort you out. Just so happens most of the Admins for Arma and mission makers are involved with a big event right now, so if you don't get a reply soon, that would be why. I really don't know how to help you any further. Maybe go to one of the Help channels on Team speak and sit there till someone notices you.

                  Re: [Script Compilation] US Army Loadouts

                  oh simple fix right click open with notepad

                  OR you could use my fav program for editing which is armaedit with the arma 2 update

                  EDIT: Just FYI though you wont find much use in these scripts by opening them if you are not familiar with scripting. to use these scripts in game create a mission in the editor and save it. you will now have a mission folder in "my documents\arma2otherprofiles\missions" open the saved mission folder and create a new folder in this one called "loadouts" then place all the scripts into that folder.

                  once back in the editor place a man unit on the map and in the "init" portion of his editing window type this:

                  [this] exec "loadouts\USARMY_AR.sqf";

                  change the last portion to which ever weapon set you want the soldier to have.

                  and then load the mission when the soldier is created in game this script will run which deletes all of his standard gear then adds the gear contained in the script file.

                  just so you have an idea of whats going on in the script though:

                  //Team Autorifleman RCO Loadout

                  private ["_unit"];
                  _unit = _this;

                  removeAllWeapons _unit;
                  removeBackPack _unit;
                  _unit addMagazine "ACE_100Rnd_556x45_T_M249";
                  _unit addweapon "ACE_M249_PIP_ACOG";
                  _unit addMagazine "ACE_100Rnd_556x45_T_M249";
                  _unit addMagazine "ACE_100Rnd_556x45_T_M249";
                  _unit addMagazine "ACE_100Rnd_556x45_T_M249";
                  _unit addMagazine "ACE_100Rnd_556x45_T_M249";
                  _unit addMagazine "ACE_100Rnd_556x45_T_M249";
                  _unit addMagazine "HandGrenade_West";
                  _unit addMagazine "HandGrenade_West";
                  _unit addWeapon "ACE_Earplugs";
                  _unit addWeapon "ACE_GlassesLHD_glasses";

                  you can ignore private for now

                  _unit = this; tells the script that anytime it sees "_unit" it should perform the action to "this" which is the soldier who is running the script

                  removall weapons; strips the unit of all gear he has on him;
                  removebackpack same thing only for backpacks

                  _unit addweapon ""; adds the weapon contained in the quotes for a list of available weapons search arma 2 or ace 2 classname class list
                  _unit addmagazine""; same only for magazines

                  Fate whispers to the warrior "You will not survive the storm."
                  The warrior whispers back, "I AM the storm."

                      Yes, thanks Charles! I was just reading through the post expecting to have to explain all my scripts only to find you did a good job there yourself! Thanks!

                      I'm planning on making some more loadout scripts in the near near future for OPFOR, USMC, BAF, etc.
