  • CTD with latest update

    I'm not sure if this is related to the latest update or not, but it probably is. When I put down an empty BMP-2 (russia.. insurgent.. guerilla) in the editor, and try to preview it, my game CTDs. This is really annoying, as i'm trying to make a mission where BMPs are a major component.

    I thought it might be a map issue, as mine is on afghan village, so I tried to do the same on Utes - and still, CTD.

    Update:

    If I disable CAA1/OAC I notice that BMP 2 [Russia] vanishes, leaving just insurgents and guerrillas. I can place these fines with no problems. CAA1/OAC is indeed causing the crash.

    I can put down BMP3s fine... with CAA1... and I can even put down OPFOR BMP-2s fine, but I can't put down empty BMP-2s. >_<

    Deleted CAA/OAC and reinstalled via Yoma, same thing.

    Did the target line change in the latest update or something? My current is:

    BMP2 (Russia) is not supposed to exist. ACE2 removed it from the mod, for some reason it is still around, but with no data files. So, if you place it, you CTD as it can't find the required data.

    Simple fix: do not use it (BMP2 (Russia)).

      I CTD if I try to spawn the other BMP-2s as well... the only one which works with x mod folder enabled is BMP-2 under Russia Armored, if I try to spawn the guerilla one, it CTDs, if I try to spawn any of the empty ones, it CTDs.

      These problems do not occur with the x mod folder disabled - all BMP-2s can be spawned.

      Could I use the (miraculously) working BMP-2 under Russia, remove the crew somehow via scripting and effectively have an empty BMP-2?

          Hmmm, well yeah you can remove the crew, not sure if the AI will use it properly though, as it was an enemy vehicle and all. Could try and find out I guess.

          Seems like this might be another config issue with CAA1\OAC. Would need to look into it more and find out, though the ProtovinoBridge mission had BMP2s in it, though it was created before CAA1 was released on TG.

                  actually, I think the delete extra files is what *caused* the issue.

                  Krause and I both deleted extra files, and we both CTD from this; but he had someone else test it, and we couldn't reproduce it. That person had *not* deleted extra files.

                  Obvious theory - something got removed between updates, but all of its respective references weren't removed.

                        I just went into editor, spawned myself as a regular guy just fine, then when I added an empty BMP2 it crashes. The crewed one seems to work.

                        I have deleted extra files, every file on the list is green, and I can play on the serves with no errors or being booted.

                          I can confirm this.

                          It seems that any map using a certain type of BMP2 will crash you if you have CAA1 enabled right now. Domination is in this list of maps that will crash players with CAA1 enabled. I had to disable CAA1 just to get onto Alpha and vote-admin myself and change the map to something less technically toxic.

                            For those who are interested, Jaynus wrote a script workaround that can be put on a crewed BMP-2 to empty it out, effectively giving you an empty BMP-2. I am using it on my Storm 333 mission because I need BMPs. Here it is:
