  • Bin\ config.bin error

    After following all the existing guides to get the combat googles/gasmask in Ace for arma 2 (specially the one included here with images) i obtain the following error message

    "bin\config.bin\CFGmagazines.ACE_glassesLHD_glasse s."

    They don't appear in my inventory nor my character.

    Any suggestion?

    That's because the information in the "All Important Information Thread" is outdated*. ACE modified the way the userconfig.ini file works. So, first things first, OVERWRITE ALL the files that you have in the ArmA2/userconfig/ACE with the files inside the ArmA2/@ACE/userconfig folder (since they have been updated) and then modify the userconfig.ini file as told by OzyTheSage in this post. Now your ACE Keys and Goggles should work fine. :)
    Also to get the goggles on you character you need to either add them in your inventory in the editor or pick them up from the US/RU Special Weapons Box. ;)

    *The admin team has already been informed about the old Goggles Guide being outdated, so there's no need to pm them about it :p

        Re: Bin\ config.bin error

        In the ace_clientside_config you will come across this section:
        /*//////////////////////////////////////////////
        //CONFIG SETTING FOR : ACE 2 MOD - Changeable glasses ingame
        //--------------------
        //FEATURES: Lets you choose different glasses
        //---------
        //TO ENABLE: Please ADD your Player Profile Name
        //----------
        //EXAMPLE:
        //--------
        //class Identity
        //{
        // name = "John Doe";
        //};
        //
        //
        //
        //
        ////////--E D I T below THIS LINE--//////////*/
        class Identity
        {
        name = "John Doe";
        };
        To enable the glasses you have to change the second "John Doe" with YOUR PROFILE NAME.

        Example, my ArmA2 profile name is "Merlo", so to have my glasses working, here is what my file looks like:
        /*//////////////////////////////////////////////
        //CONFIG SETTING FOR : ACE 2 MOD - Changeable glasses ingame
        //--------------------
        //FEATURES: Lets you choose different glasses
        //---------
        //TO ENABLE: Please ADD your Player Profile Name
        //----------
        //EXAMPLE:
        //--------
        //class Identity
        //{
        // name = "John Doe";
        //};
        //
        //
        //
        //
        ////////--E D I T below THIS LINE--//////////*/
        class Identity
        {
        name = "Merlo";
        };
        After that, to test if your glasses works, load ArmA2 (with the following mods enabled: @CBA;@ACE;@ACE_PLA;@ACE_SM) and open the Editor. Once there, put a soldier in the map.
        Once that is done, create a "US Special Weapons" crate in the Empty/AE Ammunition. After that is done preview the mission and check the crate: inside you will find balaclavas, gasmasks, tactical goggles and safety goggles. Put them in your inventory and you will be able to use them with the Action Menu. If you don't know how to use the editor, you can either try playing on one of the TG servers with Domination on or ask our mission creator :)

          Solved!
          If i get them from the US/RU special Weapons works . In the other hand If i try them directly from the armory i get the menctioned error.

          Thaks to both of you!

            //---------
            //TO ENABLE: Please ADD your Player Profile Name
            //----------
            //EXAMPLE:
            //--------

            //
            //
            //

                Where it says "Edit below this line"

                Place your ingame name where it says John doe

                  Re: Bin\ config.bin error

                  I'd also suggest not editing the Userconfig anymore. ACE now uses a very simple tool called "ACE Clippi" which does all of the editing for you.

                  You can find this program in your @ACE folder, and then in the following Clippi folder. Just run the program, select "Change manual options", and there you can find all of the userconfig settings for ACE.
