  • What kind of survivor are you?

I was thinking of the different play styles out there and started associating them to movie characters. The first one that popped into my mind for me was that gyro pilot in Mad max 2 (jedediah?)

I stay away from folks for the most part, hang out in the trees, avoid towns, and try not to bother anyone. I tend to be a liability due to inexperience so I try to avoid going into town with groups unless it is someone I dislike ;)

What kind of survivor are you folks?

I am able to run solo or with an organized group. Either way I have not lasted more than 4 days in any character created.

I am the cockroach that runs at blitz speed when someone turns the lights on. I trust no one, stay away from heavily travelled areas, and scout areas i do plan to move into for 10 or 15 minutes so i can see if anyone else is around.

If suprised, i shoot first. No questions are asked. If i determine in the split second im able to safely withdraw, i do so. But my finger is solidly on the trigger. I only have a handful of murders to my name and im ok with that.
Q: How many members of Congress does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None. There is nothing wrong with the light bulb; its conditions are improving every day. Any reports of its lack of incandescence are delusional spin from the liberal media. That light bulb has served honorably, and anything you say undermines the lighting effort. Why do you hate freedom?!?

I like to run with a group of 1-3 other survivors, like deer stands and barns over airfields and hospitals, and prefer to enjoy the zombie apocalypse slightly tipsy. I'm pretty paranoid, and really hate to die because I got careless or lazy for a few minutes. I'm the guy who starts freaking out after being in the same place for more than a few minutes.

I've managed to not (purposefully[1]) kill any other player yet! Came really close last night when we ran into a random person in the middle of nowhere, fortunately he remembered that he had an urgent appointment somewhere else.

I avoid conflict but if presented with a clear and present threat I shoot first.

I usually am on my own and rarely do group missions though I do enjoy them immensely. I love coming across new survivors out in the world and I usually approach them in direct von channel to see if they are friendly, if they make the wrong move though...I finish them

Re: What kind of survivor are you?

Iím the King of Rog Castle. I spawn in, eat and drink if needed, check all castle loot spawn areas and drop and pick up what I think I need most. I then go out only if it isnít raining. Donít have matches yet so have to watch my temp. Yesterday I fired a warning shot from the tower towards another survivor. He started running and attracted the zedís who promptly consumed him. Got a compress and a few other items from him. Glad his own doing got him killed and that I didnít have to do it. I seldom stay on the server long as Iím by myself and get bored. If I have time and the zed count is low I shoot a couple of Zedís myself. If others spawn in or are around I let them chase me up the stairs inside the tower. I can pile them up pretty good and so far they have stopped coming before the ammo ran out. If I have a real long time I go into Kamyshovo and loot a few things. Problem is I have all I need local as long as Iím careful. I did find an Alice pack at Rog way back at the beginning of Dayz but one hasnít spawned there lately to my knowledge. At some point Iíll probably get tired of living or just over reach then end up at the beach again. Today I spawned in for a few minutes checking out my new video card and found a map. This is the first map Iíve found however I have had other TGerís give me a map in the past. If anyone is having difficulty in my AOR let me know...ďHave Gun will travelĒ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgvxu8QY01s

Re: What kind of survivor are you?

I like to run in a 3-4 player group and hit high-value targets in a well-organized fashion. I engage only if I'm in a position of advantage, and I do everything possible to maximize the advantage the group has at any given moment.

We cover all entry and exit avenues to the target, and we only shoot if absolutely necessary. Even then, we only use silenced weapons.
If we don't have an advantage, we exfil through bounding overwatch. And we routinely spend 30+ minutes getting into a position of advantage before hitting a target. We also routinely ignore buildings while looting though the general AO is quiet because the building is awkward to control. Think NW Airfield ACT.

Our tactical plan book is slowly and organically expanding. We've started with relatively-isolated and easy-to-control areas (Pustoshka general store, SW Airfield barracks), and are now moving toward targets whose environment is relatively harder to control: Stary Sobor tents, North Cherno hospital.

Re: What kind of survivor are you?

I like to be social. The lack of VON for the moment has put me more in line with regular rule of; avoid contact when alone.

I love organized groups and raiding parties. Hard to get them going though.

I tend to make a shopping list before I log in and weigh where I should go. I don't need the best loot and do well with any weapon you give me (not fond of the AK irons though).

Re: What kind of survivor are you?

I volunteer and help support anyone who needs an extra man for a raiding party. I find my gear early on (Elektro is my favorite place to spawn, can get everything i need in an hour or two) and i slowly head north going from deer stand to deer stand.

I pick a gun (whatever assault rifle or automatic weapon i can find in Elektro) and stick with it. I only take ammo and supplies on raids, the really juicy stuff i leave for everyone else. I prefer a stealth option but will open fire when it hits the fan. If i spot another survivor in Elek, i run and evade, getting away every time. If i run into another person out in the wilderness, i observe for awhile, and if they are in my way, i sneak up and shoot them in the back.

Well by golly I was going in the direction of what character from a movie, tv show, book etc :-p My zombie/post apocolyptic experience is limited to media, which is why my mind draws odd correlaries (prolly spelled that wrong).

                              Nice.

Well going by a character... I'd say Dale was me at first.

                              But I like Darryl now.
