With this I can have my cake and eat it too. Love it.

Looks like it will be using the RV4 engine as well! Good read:

I didn't see anything about the RV4 engine. Care to quote?

From the article he posted in the "Keeping The Edge" section:
But there will be some changes to playability brought on by the move from mod to game. Rebuilding from the ground up with the latest version of Bohemia's Real Virtuality engine (which was shown to great effect powering ArmA III at this year's E3) will also allow the standalone DayZ to have more diffuse nighttime lighting, rather than the practically unplayable near-pitch-blackness of the current mod.

..player-driven construction in the game consisting in underground bases that would be instanced..
..Chernarus is being redone (“Chernarus Plus”) for the release with more enterable buildings, more detail, and even entirely new areas.

                      Re: Dayzgame.com

Hopefully they make a MASSIVE city. I'm thinking the size of Atlanta in The Walking Dead. That would make for some very interesting gameplay. What if TG controlled a city that big in a 200 person server?

                        Re: Dayzgame.com

Read on for information on why the mod version of the game will now “open up”, how dogs work, how original Op Flash developers came back to work on the new title, how “underground construction” might work, and for an explanation of why there won’t be a military simulator mod of Day Z. At least not yet.

Interesting about the engine info...probably better that way since arma3 isn't even finished yet.
