"Vehicle Handler" now asynchronous to server restarts

  • "Vehicle Handler" now asynchronous to server restarts

    As of this morning, the server's vehicle-handler is no longer tied to the server restart sequence. Vehicles will now be spawned and [wrecks] removed during the course of normal server operation. This has two main benefits:
    1) Reduce the importance of server-restarts as gameplay events. (The real zombie apocalypse will not have server restarts ;))

    2) Spread vehicle-access to a wider player-base.

      I'm not particularly interested in knowing how long the length of time is between vehicle spawns (and I'm pretty sure we wouldnt be told anyway :D), however, would you mind sharing with us the length of time before the server "cleans up" a wreck? It'd be nice to know if, say, someone blew up a vehicle in my base in an inconvenient spot (yeah, yeah, I shouldnt have parked there to begin with, shaddap.), how long I'd have to wait for the wreck to fade into the ether.

        I'm actually very interested in that as well. I would actually argue that wrecks should be preserved.

          I support this innovation, reducing the 'set my alarm clock' farming that goes on, creating a more realistic environment in that sense. More of the same please, bravo.

                Now theres another good question! Are the chopper crashes asynchronous to restarts as well or are they still tied in?
