• Possible Player Coordinates found...

Can I get someone with a working walkie-talkie (quality damaged or better with damaged or better battery) to get me a copy of your Playername.DayZprofile file? I need a copy of the file for reference for the starting position, and then a second copy of the same file after moving a moderate distance. I don't have a walkie-talkie and haven't seen one for some time or I'd test this myself.

File Location: X:\Users\User\Documents\DayZ\User.DayZProfile

Ultimately here are the two scenarios I'd like to test:
1. Movement with walkie in inventory
- Copy of file at start point.
- Copy of file after moderate movement.

2. Movement with walkie in player hand
- Copy of file at start point.
- Copy of file after moderate movement.

Please and thank you for any and all able to help with this. I'll be in the DayZ channel on TS tonight after 6pm~ central if anyone wants to chat about this.

Thanks!

Are we trying to set up a GPS system without the GPS?

Yes, no, maybe?

Here's where my motivation lies.. In the past we've had issues with folks getting lost or mistaking where they are when trying to set up a rally point, or when asking for backup because they were just killed, eaten or so on. So i started trolling config files while trying to look at network traffic from the game client to the servers hoping to spy coordinate based location information.

In the course of my investigation, and in all honesty last night by accident I stumbled upon a section in the above referenced file that speaks to coordinate values for GPS2 and Walkie-Talkies or 2-Way radios. In testing I was not able to initiate a change in the GPS2 values, however I suspect the values for the personal radio will be a different story, I just need to find someone that has a radio to test, or find a radio myself to test.

My goal is to develop hosted logic that will automatically update a user's location on the izurvive.com map or similar resource to aid in the planning and command for force projection and maneuvering operations.

Re: Possible Player Coordinates found...

so after a bit of testing I'm not finding any variation in the values in the playername.dayzprofile file. Starting at line number 417 is where I hoped to see a change:

class MainMap
{
class WalkieTalkie
{
inBack=1;
position[]={0.093999997,-0.043000001,0.25};
positionBack[]={0.28,-0.155,0.625};
};
class GPS2
{
inBack=1;
position[]={-0.047431991,-0.10799249,0.22};
positionBack[]={0.036959991,7.5101845e-009,0.12};
};
};

Alas, i've yet to see a change in the values. If I can link up with someone that has another walkie I can test to see if the values change after communicating with someone that way.

I usually see them on the shelves in most firehouses.

Re: Possible Player Coordinates found...

I got to a low threat area to further test the walkie influencing the values I mentioned above and still I see no change. I guess this proved to not be fruitful as I had hoped. Thanks everyone for helping out, ZAP44 particularly with the donation of the walkie.
