  • Campaign Win Question

Alright, I have read the sticky about conditions needed to win the campaigns, but I have a question or two regarding this:

I have almost total air-superiority (probably about 95% if not more), though they have a fair amount of air-defenses... Does this mean that I have to go and create kill boxes and basically start a ton of SEAD missions? Or should I just keep going and knock out all of their radar sites and then do CAS missions for my troops?

This is my first campaign and I am on day 3 but I have dealt a HUGE blow to their military because we have pushed them very far north and I would say I "own" about 70% of the Korean peninsula (I am at work, so I can't actually check until I get home). I wanted to get a full campaign under my belt before I started to fly online because I wanted to be able to use all of the weapons.

Oh yeah, should I start taking out thier nuclear reactors and deplete them of power or should I leave those intact? These might seem like simple questions to many, but I am a newb at this game but have fallen totally in love with it and can't wait to build my cockpit (or at least something that my wife can deal with).

      Re: Campaign Win Question

      Hey guys, welcome to TG!

To win your campaign, you're going to want to get ground troops moved up into the areas mentioned in the sticky. Ground troops are notoriously reluctant to move up. You may need to help them along by moving them manually.

While they're doing that, you can help out by running CAS and BAI missions against anything that might be in their way. Don't neglect the engineer battalions, they're the guys trying to fix the stuff you just made go boom. I'd also run OCA strikes against any remaining airbases where enemy fighter aircraft are based, with SEAD escort if necessary. Then I'd go for infrastructure targets like power, C&C and supply.

But your ground troops controlling the victory locations is what you're looking for. Sounds like you are well on the way to winning.

Let me extend an invitation to both of you to meet up with us on TeamSpeak and join in on some of our flights. No need to feel you have to wait until you develop more skills - we can help you along with that. I'm sure you'll fit right in.

        Re: Campaign Win Question

Hey, thanks for the reply and the invite. I've been wanting to book an O-flight, but can never seem to find the time lately. I was hoping to try for this coming Sunday, but now we might be headed to the beach. So once again - I didn't want to book something.

I really want to fight in a campaign with humans. You guys seems to be a little easier on requirements for participation, so I'm really looking forward to taking care of that. I'd also like to do the new training that's coming up and the BAI training with Slammer. (A BAI mission is where I bombed friendly ground troups).

Anyways, thanks again! I'll try and get the O-flight booked soon.

          Re: Campaign Win Question

Yes, thanks for the invite and info as well. I am looking forward to getting online and doing some close formation flying (closer than my wingy ingame, that is) and getting to know the human aspect of the game. I hope to do this soon, but I have to go out of town for the next three weeks so it is going to be painful for me to go without flying. Anyway, I will be on here all of the time checking out the forum.

Have fun and I'll talk to you soon.

Falcon actually only gets better when flying online! I'm sure you guys are going to love this.

            About the campaign.
Up untill now i have completed 2 campaigns. Both where finished around 21.00hrs on day two. All I did was doing BAI and a few OCA's with my wingman (human). I have not touched any sliders or anything like that. I think I just might have been lucky..

              Re: Campaign Win Question

To win the campaign you must have control of certain areas. If you want to speed things up a little, you can paradrop your troops in via airlifting them. Choose an airlift squadron, create the package by right clicking on the unit and assign an AL squadron to the task I think. From there though it gets murky as I've never done it but I will try it tonight and post up how to.

Oh and welcome to TG :)

                Re: Campaign Win Question

I've done some air lifts and such, but I always wonder if I'm going to mess something up by taking ground troups off assigned tasks and moving them. LOL

Anyways, I'm on Day 4 of the middle campaign from the original Korean Campaign. Rookie setting though, LOL.

                Thanks guys!

                  Re: Campaign Win Question

*edit* I tried to post the image but apparently I need more than 15 posts in order to post outside links */edit*

I would have actually imaged the map here, but it is rather large so I am just linking to it (in case you want to see where I am). I am running on ACE settings because I figure there is no better way to learn things. Also, this is the Tiger Spirit campaign (the top one, I think that is Tiger Spirit).

I am hoping to end the campaign very soon... though only time will tell.

Oh and I took the movies from the old version of F4 (which I have but never played) and placed them in the movies folder of my F4AF install but I am not sure where exactly they go... any help would be wonderful.

                    Re: Campaign Win Question

OK, this is an update. Last night I ran a few more missions and in the process I thought that I North Korea at its knees...

And then I got a news update that said that China had come to North Koreas aid and will be sending troops. I immediately sent two sorties of F117's to take out their airbases (China) and will start concentrating on the very north of Korea to try and cut off any help. Man, I was hoping that I would finish the war in three to four days, but I am now on the fourth day it's about 0200 hours.

Guess I got more work to do.

The original Falcon 4.0 is set in the Korean Theatre only so you should put the movie files in the korean folder of lead pursuit. ie: c:/program files/lead pursuit/battlefield operations/movies/Korea
