  • Proposal: Scenario PW night

Anyone who has played in the PR Events of the past (Zombies, VIP night, etc.) will know of the epic that I allude to.

The concept is simple, run a passworded event where the "objectives" and equipment of each map are not the normal ones; pursuit and conditions of these objectives is agreed upon by everyone playing and enforced by admins and commanders (such as VIP search and rescue, VIP abduction, convoy protection, etc.). The scenarios are announced and clarified alongside the event date itself. Mumble usage would be required for maximum effect.

My favorite example of this was back in VIP/Zombies #2 a good long time ago: we played a round of Muttrah where there was a US guy playing a downed pilot, who was being held captive by MEC inside their fortress. The US was to assault the castle, then secure and extract the pilot by boat. Both sides were not allowed to use HAT's, US was not allowed to use attack helos or APC's, and MEC was not allowed to use armored vehicles or missile AA. Death of the pilot results in defeat for the faction that killed him. Successful extraction of the pilot to the carrier results in victory for the US; holding off the US for 2 hours or full ticket depletion results in victory for MEC. The main draw here was that everyone was on the same mumble channel: the pilot could communicate with his captors and vice-versa.

I encourage suggestions for scenarios here.

    Re: Proposal: Scenario PW night

Sounds like a lot of fun!
I'm too new to PR and TG to have played a scenario but I've read about it somewhere and really was into the idea.

    Scenarios I could think of...

Search and Destroy - Maybe a more asymetric scenario. Depending on the map there's a target only the attacking team knows. The defending team only knows the area to guard. No vehicles, no HATs, no air cav, probably just air trans if the map dictates it. I would really like to see guard posts, patrolling fireteams and sneaking attackers. Depending on the size of the teams it could be a brute force attack or a sneaky, tactical, silent infiltration. (And it would take the idea of INS and turn it around. In INS the defending team knows the exact location while the attacking team has to figure it out. Here the defending team would have to guard the whole area, not knowing which building/vehicle/etc the actual target is.) Maybe this would work better with smaller teams, BUT there's always the option to make multiple locations and targets. Split a whole team on three locations and you'd have the same effect. I would really love to see some stealthy action, diversions and so on.

I can see potential with that! On a full server, disable auto-balance and manually balance the teams admin side: could do 24 on 38 where the enemy team would have two/three candidate target areas to guard. Defending team restricted to unlimited kits only (Rifleman, Officer, Crewman, Pilot, AR, Medic, Specialist)

We are always open for this kind of stuff.
Just write down the scenario you have thought of and post it in our CAA forum and we will see if its doable.

            Yes.
Just make your post detailed about what you want to do in your scenario, setup, loadout, rules. etc and post it in there.
We will take a a look at it and we can talk to the you in private about it.
This is how it has been done in the past and it was alot of fun with the theme nights, too bad everybody seemes to have forgotten them :/
            Me included.

There is nothing wrong with discussing it here though.
If you guys want to brainstorm this would be the place to do it.
But when you are done one will have to make a post in the CAA Forum to notify us admins so we can help you set it up and see if we can find a time where it would fit in the best.

Definitely pay attention to the details, and consider what it will be like from the Admins perspective to set it up and administer it.

                  Re: Proposal: Scenario PW night

I've kinda always wanted to play Kozelsk with the militia only defending the flags and not trying to retake any of them. Seems like that is how the map was designed to play out, but it rarely gets beyond the first 2-3 flags. To help facilitate the attack and defense scenario the fighting would have to be more limited around the flags instead of ambushing supply routes and perhaps allowing a bit of setup time between the taking of each flag so that everyone can be involved for the fight at the flag rather than worrying about setting up a defense for the next flag or securing routes for supply.

                  Eh?

                        +REP!

Great idea, a bit like the old Counter Attack mode...errr without the counter attack lol. Sorry a poor analogy. No I really like this. One of the things that frustrates me about PR is the lack of epic battles with lots of inf. With 31 players once you subtract the asset operators, recon, mortars and some people for logistics you aren't left with many infantry for a proper old fashioned 'dust up'. This would 'focus the fight' really well, should lead to some proper full blown fire fights and make great video footage! Imagine a full bore tear up in missile silo with both teams, such a criminally underused flag!
