  • Mortar Testing Day

Just wondering if anyone out there would be interested in raiding a server sometime saturday to experiment with the mortar system in PR.

I'd want to figure out the solids like how long it takes to rotate the tube to a certain degree. How to adjust for distances without using the calculator. How to adjust fire in a walking sort of way. And how to have two mortars lined up perfectly so that they hit a wide area of attack.

I cant say for sure I'll be around, but if so I'll do it with you.

How about you teach a TGU class after you sort out all you've learned ?

I'd love to help out. Whenever I use the mortars I'm wondering how much deviation they have and how much I should deviate my shots to get a good spread.

                  Re: Mortar Testing Day

                  Alright, nice short notice responses!

I'll post when I'm available and will suggest a server. Suggest being on the TG TS server tomorrow.

The basic stuff is as follows:

                  Mechanics:
                  Rotation Speed
                  Depression Speed
                  Rate of Fire
Time till impact (believe its a flat 20s for all distances)
Build Time with multiple members (for reference)
                  Reloading Math

                  Practice:
                  Range Cheat Sheet
                  Destructive Capabilities (vehicles/people/blast radius)
Efficient Smoke Use (how smoke spreads, how long it lingers)
Walking Shots/Ajdusting Minor distances on the fly
                  Approximate accuracy of shells

Will think I'll need Targets, operators, observers.

                  Targets should be people/deployables/vehicles.

                  Operators can switch out/take turns.

Observers need to write the stuff down.

                    Re: Mortar Testing Day

You can test on an empty CO-OP server, or one with a few random guys on. I tested this way and became very accurate with firing mortars. Reason I say CO-OP servers is because you can instantly spawn emplacements without having to shovel on these servers and you have unlimited ammo bags dependant on the server.

im the SL of the mortar squad in the PRT and we use a off screen calculator.
The manual is created by ZuluActual
there is some info about rounds and such, but the most is how to call in mortars

                          Mechanics: ?
                          Rotation Speed ?
                          Depression Speed ?
                          Rate of Fire ?
Time till impact (believe its a flat 20s for all distances) 20 sec close, 15 sec far
Build Time with multiple members (for reference) ?
                          Reloading Math 4 rounds/bag

                          Practice:
                          Range Cheat Sheet ?
Destructive Capabilities (vehicles/people/blast radius) APCs: 4-6 HE, heavy APC: 6-9, tanks 10-14
HE: killzone 30 M, PRX: 40M HE has less deviation
Efficient Smoke Use (how smoke spreads, how long it lingers) smoke has less deviation then the standard rounds, and deploys after 20 sec, and last 50 sec.
Walking Shots/Ajdusting Minor distances on the fly.
                          Approximate accuracy of shells
                          smoke: 5 M, IM: 10, PRX: 15 M

all this info is worked out with my programmer and NCO ZuluActual that has also made a offscren calculator that we use.
we never use the ingame calc anymore, we can do W/E with the calculator, we are using it to call in mortars like no man has done before.

Looking to do this next saturday at a specified time too. Any chance I could get the private server requested for this?
