Approved through April 3, 2011. Congratulations!

    Distinguished Commander (Class I)

    Awardee:

    Ytman

Description: The Distinguished Commander Ribbon is awarded on a selective basis to soldiers who distinguish themselves as Commanding Officers. These soldiers are have a deep understanding of the dynamics of battle, and manage chaotic battlefield situations using clear and decisive orders. This award is available to the 'Commander' position in the Battlefield series and the 'Platoon Leader' in Armed Assault.

On 02/15/2011, Ytman demonstrated leadership and decision making capabilities above and beyond what are normally seen on the PR battlefield. Ytman led the British forces to a crushing victory despite being on the ropes for the first half of the battle. He went above and beyond the average commander's roles by establishing a commander rally point and communicating clearly to each squad what their goals and objectives were. He communicated updates of enemy movement and battlefield status clearly and in a way that it would give the team a great advantage over their adversary.
He showed his knowledge of tactics and battlefield awareness at the beginning of the map by allowing squads to get situated and dug in at Train Depot before allowing the attack the undefended Industrial objective, which the enemy wanted the British to attack hastily so they could cap back quickly.
During the defense at train depot he gave constant orders to the defending squads of enemy troop locations and movement so that they may defend and support each other. At times the defense was left up to 5-6 people as others were ordered back to provide mortar support to the attacking fire teams.
For almost the entire round Ytman kept the commander rally up and active for the attacking squads. The commander rally is very very rarely used in the battlefield, and using it shows his initiative and good judgment as a leader on the chaotic battlefield.

After a great deal of time of defending and preparing, Industrial objective was able to be captured by the British.

The militia was caught off guard and Ytman took advantage of the situation and ordered squads to move on the next flags. The blitzkrieg tactics worked and the British were able to steam roll their way all the way to the last flag with squads leap frogging from one flag to the next.

The last flag was captured with multiple squads with almost no response by the Milita due to the quick and decisive actions by the commander and team.
Ytman lead the British to an amazing victory due to his skill as a commanding officer.

I don't know what to say really. Thanks alot ^^

That specific battle was such a meat grinder! It was down to a really amazing defensive stand by Ankyle and I think CommunistComisar that allowed us to use the momentary victory at Industry as a stepping stone all the way to the last flag. The squad leaders (Tman, Saxoni [one of his first times too!], Shotcha, Marco49, Ankyle, and Communist) all deserve something for that battle as they cooperated when they needed to and really pulled it all together at the end. We were down by 100 or so tickets about an hour or so in and morale was still kept high!

                      I completely forgot about ribbons!

YT really deserves it, he puts a lot of care into his commanding and pre/post analysis as well as helping others learn what he has. Major Props. I'd even advocate bumping him to second grade ribbon.
