  • Weekly Award winners!

Please take the time to congratulate our weekly ribbon recipients. The majority of the nominations received were from the scrimmage against Opreal. Participating in these events DO NOT go unnoticed.

Every single time I play with this guy, I get all kinds of giddy. He is probably the best CO in PR. But this is not a nomination for the Distinguished CO ribbon, rather his Tactical Expertise. He devised a plan that was comparable to Operation Overlord. Here is the plan that he made...

This plan was extremely effective against the Opreal guys. He went into extreme detail and made back up plans that were used.

The Distinctive Accomplishments of AFSoccer brings great credit upon himself, Tactical Gamer, and the PR community.

    How?

AFSoccer was our commanding officer for the scrimmage against OpReal. He did an oustanding job not only commanding during the match, but with his work prior to the match in clearly and concisely laying out the strategy for the team. Because of his diligence and effort, we were given a battle plan that was a solid strategy, gave clearly defined orders and goals to the squads, and in the end was able to be executed flawlessly. Considering the saying "no plan has ever survived contact with the enemy", I am honestly able to say that all squads were able to execute their plans without deviation during the entire match, and this is truly a credit to AFSoccer and his tactical thinking.

I nominate AFSoccer for Distinguished Tactician due to his excellent tactics and planning for our scrim against OpReal.

    Distinguished Anti-Tank: cola88

I would like to nominate cola88 for the anti-tank specialist ribbon. During the scrim vs Opreal, cola88 was assigned the HAT. I have seen him in an AT role during a previous scrim and was impressed by his focus; he is calm, positions himself very well, and rarely misses a shot. He calls the threats on VOIP, and always reports hits.

This is what we were tasked with:

    Squad 3: "Mech Infantry"
    eGoatboy (SL)
    Steiner
    Dick Blonov
    Cola88
Mission: You will be the cavalry squad, staying mobile and ready to close gaps in our defense. Will temporarily defend East City with Sq 2, if needed, but do not get bunkered down. Both APCs and one H-AT kit is reserved for your squad. Suggest one engineer as well (to keep APCs repaired and to mine/C4 enemy vehicles). Use hills to your advantage. May be reassigned to help Sq 1 if they are ordered to attack.

    And the CO's AAR

    The scoreboard:

19 kills from stopping APCs, Vodniks; nothing got past him.

I believe cola88 deserves recognition for his excellent performance.

    Distinguished Anti-tank

    Sat. 8-Dec-07

    Where:
    TG vs OpReal scrim

    How:
This is a simple one...Cola88 went 19 & 6 with the H-AT kit (and got highest Anti-Tank score)...he never fought infantry. He was routinely hunted / targeted by the OpFor, and managed to remain effective. I stopped counting how many times he reported this vehicle or that vehicle being down...I'm sure the OpReal guys must have hated him.

We set him up in the hills with a wad of ammo, and let him go to it. He had his job defined and was left to do it. He took out multiple APCs (I'm not sure about tanks), and hit Vodniks as well. He certainly had a significant impact on the round as he made it very hard for the MEC to bring their vehicles south. During the pre-scrim warm-up he made a 500m shot, which tells me that from his position in the East Hills he was killing MEC at North Desert or beyond.

    Distinguished Conduct: Dick Blonov
    Who:
    Dick Blonov

    What:
    Distinguished Conduct

    When:
    Sat. 8-Dec-07

    Where:
    TG vs OpReal scrim

    How:
At first I thought I would write a "Distinguished Engineer" nomination for Blonov...but somehow that just didn't seem to capture it. I think Distinguished Conduct is really the best fit...here's why I think so...

As with Steiner, Blonov's conduct in the scrim started at least 1 week, if not 2 weeks, before the scrim started. I was offering assistance to AFsoccer by helping him understand the "TG Way" of scrim prep (sending him map screenies, roster suggestions, explanation of what to communicate), and while I was doing this Blonov was doing the same for me. He was offering any help, and specifically made his private server available to our squad to practice on prior to game time.

Once in game I assigned him (actually he requested) the inglorious duty of being the main engy for the 2 APCs we intended to operate. Multiple times his wrench kept my APC in the fight, despite him getting run into / run down a few times. It seemed he would wrench, then the crap would hit the fan he'd get hit, and be left looking for a field dressing. Numerous times he kept himself alive from injuries sustained while our APCs were under fire and he was the main wrench. At no time did he complain...he did what many others fail to do and he adapted. E.g. he upped his comms to avoid being roadkill (essentially adapting to my failings). At no time did he complain about the situation...he just worked around it.

Once things got a little hot for our squad in the city I had to send him down into the city to clear enemy infantry with Gumball. Between him, Gumball, and Steiner they took out an enemy squad that had neutralized East City and that was threatening our teams initiative. We went on the help cap Gardens and North Desert. Blonov took the most flag cap points on the match according to the scoreboard as well. He was everywhere I needed him to be and never late getting there. I simply felt 100% confident during the scrim knowing that Blonov would be where he needed to be, do what he needed to do, and keep my back covered. E.g. on this was with the patrols out to the east...when I announced a recce Blonov was always there with me...I just never had to wait or worry about it. He was doing his job perfectly.

Long story longer, Blonov IS "teamwork". He's the first to admit he's not a twitch guy, and so he routinely fills roles and does the things that need to get done that others aren't interested in doing. I was impressed with his adaptability, discipline, composure, and teamplay during the scrim. He was my go-to-guy every time.

I hope this gives some sense of the qualities he displayed during the match...

    Distinguished Armor:
    Steiner

    Who:
    Steiner

    What:
    Distinguished Armor

    When:
    Sat. 8-Dec-07

    Where:
    TG vs OpReal scrim

    How:
I recommended Steiner as an APC man to AFsoccer prior to the match based upon his past performance in that role. I was pleased to see AFsoccer go with that suggestion, and very pleased when I saw Steiner in action prior to / and during the scrim.

He simply knows how to fight an APC very, very well. Prior to the scrim when I was sending out roll-out details and plans to the squad Steiner came back with extremely helpful feedback and recommendations...so much so I simply told the squad that Steiner had set the SOP for how we would fight the APCs in those crazy hills east of East City (basically giant moguls...) He actively sought out Sq.1s needs/requirements for their deployment into the city, and he certainly practiced the the routes in and out.

Any time we were down to one APC I turned the remaining APC over to Steiner. He was very efficient up in the hills and focussed on hunting high value targets. He was the lead APC into the fights and did damn well considering he was driving and gunning himself. More often than not he did not have engy support as well. He really came to life when our squad had to recap East City. He rolled his APC off the hills and went into the streets...it was him, Blonov, and Gumball against a MEC squad. I clearly recall him asking Blonov and Gumball over voip if they were on the roofs...they replied no, and not until then did he open fire. Totally calm, totally disciplined. His contribution to recapping East City was huge, and it helped our team retain the initiative and momentum.

Perhaps next scrim he'll get to fulfill a different role, but if we are smart we'll put him back in an APC.

    Distinguished Sniper (class 2):
    TheSkudDestroyer
    Who?
    |TG-6th|TheSkudDestroyer

    What?
    Distinguished Sniper

    Where?
    TG vs OpReal Scrim

    When?
    December 8, 2007

    How?
Skud was instrumental in our success not only as a squad but also to our team.

Our squad was assigned to hold the high ground north of East City (EJOD Desert), harass enemy vehicles and protect East City. During this time, I assigned TheSkudDestroyer as a sniper to spot enemy vehicles for our H-AT. He did this with great effect, allowing our H-AT to destroy both enemy APCs within the first 5 minutes of the round and severely crippling the MEC rollout. TheSkudDestroyer then proceeded to assist other squads by spotting enemy locations, suppressing enemy movement with his sniper rifle, and assisting our armor by taking out an entire enemy H-AT squad.

Because of his immense skill with the sniper rifle, devotion to team and mission, and his singular impact on the entire match, I am nominating TheSkudDestroyer for Distinguished Sniper.

    Distinguished Engineer: Masterjack

    When: 8 December 2007

    Where: TG vs. OpReal Scrimmage

    MasterJack - Distinguished Engineer

I would like to nominate MasterJack for the distinguished engineer ribbon for his performance during the scrim against OpReal. Because of the player shortage he ended up being the sole engineer, tasked with repairing two tanks the entire round, and he did an amazing job. Despite the challenges, he was always behind us, and there was never a time that I needed repairs and didn't get them, and it was the same for the other tank in our squad.
    Combat Action Ribbon Bernout
    Who: Bernout
    What: Combat Action Ribbon
Where: TG vs. Opreal Scrim/ EJOD Desert
    When: Thursday, December 8, 2007
    AAR:http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...scrim-aar.html

    How:

Bernout distinguished himself as a stellar Grenadier during the External Scrim against Operation Reality. After placing a rally in the center of the city, the CO gave us orders to be the "frontline" force to oppose enemy advancements into East city. After scaling the roofs, I positioned Bernout on a ledge of a building, and gave him a field of fire. After wiping out several enemy waves, he provided a smoke screen for advancing friendly troops. When the OpFor discovered our position, they proceeded to lob grenades at us. He hunkered down and waited for them to stop, and once they did he placed one excellent 203 round right in the middle of them. He repelled them from getting on our roof on several occasion's. This in-turn secured our position which was vital to the success of the team. Not only is he an excellent shot, he would give coordinates on enemy positions so the rest of the squad can assist. His excellent vision of the Battlefield was essential to the team.

The Distinctive Accomplishments of Bernout brings great credit upon himself, Tactical Gamer, and the PR community.
    Well done Gentlemen!
