    Armor Specialist: Eavy Gunner

Who: Eavy Gunner (commonly known as |TG-Irr|Gunner)

    Game: Project Reality

Where: Fool's Road, on the TG server as Chechnya

    When: Friday 13, 2009

Why: Gunner showed his talent as a tank driver on Fool's Road. Working with other squads through mumble (the ingame VOIP system was even down), Gunner was able to hit where we needed to hit. Most tank drivers stick to the roads and open plains, not gunner. Astonishingly, he was able to get the tank up to some very high hills deep in the forest. In the wooded hills, we were able to drive back hostile infantry and overlook vast expanses of land (which overlooked several of the flags). Only once did we run into trouble. This was when we took one RPG tandem warhead to the rear. We were forced to exit the vehicle and fall back (stealing both enemy HAT kits with the aid of Chalcas and Spitfire). Gunner then showed his skills as a driver by actually getting a truck up to the tank. Keep in mind, this is almost impossible to do. Eventually, the tank was repaired and we went back to stomping the enemy. The team had a 256 ticket victory and we lost no assets. Gunner is truly an amazing tank driver.

    Air Cavalry Specialist: Portable.Cougar

    Who?
    TG Forum name: Portable-Cougar

    What?
    Distinguished Air Cavalry

    Where?
    Operation Barracuda, February 19, 2009

    How?

A great effort by Portable-Cougar during Operation Barracuda.

Portable-Cougar was in game playing as what I assume to be regular infantry, but about ˝ way through the game there was a lack of attack chopper pilots (on the other team from me) and Portable-Cougar stepped up to lead a 2 chopper attack squadron.

I was not on his team during play, but was often times the recipient of surprise, deadly and accurate chopper runs that seemingly came from nowhere. I was once on the AA gun at the center of the map, and the chopper literally came from thin air and wiped me off the gun. I attribute that to some high altitude strafing technique that was a marvel of tactics and flying ability.

Another time I was on the same AA position, the approach of the 2 choppers was visible – a beautiful sight of incoming power. The formation discipline and flight capability was pretty nice to watch.

By the game end the USA had most of the Chinese team in the bunker at their main hiding underground due to the great chopper support on the USA team. Portable-Cougar racked up an impressive 33:1 kill ratio and I assume only lost 1 chopper during the game from what I could tell. I think the game was pivoting on the Chinese taking control until Portable-Cougar took control of the sky and sent the Chinese team running for cover all over the field.

Portable-Cougar’s ability to perform in any position on the battlefield, but most notably chopper pilot – and a dammed good one – is pretty impressive. More so was his ability to find a weakness in his team, fill the gap and push the team to victory through combat power and ability. This award could be for a number of ribbons, but I chose the Distinguished Air Cavalry due to the main portion of what I saw on the battlefield was air superiority from the USA team and Portable-Cougar.

I would appreciate your support for this award for outstanding battlefield performance and piloting skill.

    Distinguished Commander: McGann

    Who: |TG-X|McGann
    When: February 11th, 10pm-12:30am CST

    Why:

I would like to nominate |TG-X|McGann for the Distinguished Commander, Class I ribbon for his performance as our commander during the round of Ramiel.

McGann stepped up to be commander before the round started and immediately took charge of the team, assigning assets to squads and establishing rules for their usage which included specific rules of flight for our helicopters. He was able to get control of all of the squads and focused on the task at hand, which was to hunt caches.

During the round, McGann was able to direct the entire team in an organized manner and used the assets at his disposal to great effect. He was able to organize a large convoy of 5 squads comprised of the proper attack and support elements. He kept this convoy together and was able to provide an effective plan of attack on each cache location. Between attacks on each cache, he would have the entire team extract from the city to regroup, and during this time he would consult with his squad leaders to organize the next attack. This willingness to get input and work with his squad leaders was perhaps the most impressive part of his performance during the round, as any effective leader will use input from as many sources as possible before making a decision, and his willingness to adapt his plan as events unfolded on the ground is another hallmark to his effectiveness as a commander.

Due to his organizational capacity, strategic thinking, intelligent usage of the assets at his disposal and leadership abilities, McGann has distinguished himself and is deserving of this ribbon. He exemplifies the type of player that all members of TG should strive to be, and it is with great pride that I nominate |TG-X|McGann for this recognition.

    Distinguished Conduct: Ghost Dog

    Who?
    Ghost Dog

    What?
    Distinguished Conduct

    Where?
    TG Forum / http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...-thread.htmlml

    How?
Ghost Dog solved many technical problems in this thread, had good ideas, suggestions, helped a lot of us when we had troubles with installing, kicks, ctd, ...
He spent his time to search for links, trying out on his own computer, writing how to solve problems.
He solved one of my biggest problem and now i am not ctd after 2 rounds and the game is much more enjoyable for me

    Distinguished Volunteer: Bamboo (Class II)

It's been 8 months now since bamboo was nominated for the the volunteer ribbon with his work in the Hardware and Software Forum. I think it's time to recognize him again.

He has been a constant force in the forum with nearly daily updates on pretty much everything tech. I can't count the number to times he's posted information has helped me either choose which piece of hardware to buy, which software to try or what to expect from upcoming hardware. All of the sites I get exposed to simply from his posts is unprecedented. He is a fountain of knowledge waiting to be tapped in the tech industry.

I'm very glad to have his contributions in that forum and I think he deserves another tier on the volunteering his time to bring all of that to us.

    Thanks
