  • The Random Information Thread

So, I hate math. I really do. But for the past 3 months, it's been pounded into my head through accelerated classes, so with my mindset being math/physics, I had an idea that always alluded me: examine and define the Sprint Bar.
So, I did some simple distance and time testing.

    Result:
    Meet the Sprint Bar:
    Contains 30 'blocks' of energy.
Each block is equivalent to 1 second of run time, or 5 meters of sprint.
Each block takes just over 2.5 seconds to recharge, or 7.5 meters of walking.

If you divide the bar into 3 sections of 10 blocks each...
1 section is equivalent to 10 seconds, or 50 meters, of sprint.
1 section takes 25 seconds to recharge, or 75 meters of walking.

The full bar holds 150 meters, or 30 seconds, of sprint.
It takes 225 meters of walking, or 1 minute 20 seconds, for recharge the bar from empty.

Players in PR sprint at 5 meters per second (BF2 meters, that is...)
If you have any tidbits of information regarding PR, put them down in a new post! Bonus points for how nerdy you had to be to find that information.

Now they go on the ground with the rest of the rifleman kit since everyone and their pet dog has to request a pickup kit, limited kit or specialist.

Tips on searching for specific information in forums

I was going to suggest changing the title of this thread to 'sprinting in PR: times and distances' or somesuch, and further suggest that others post their tidbits in new threads with an appropriate title, with the thought that it would make searching for said information much easier. I was picturing this thread eventually being 15 pages long with all sorts of various information, and someone looking for something specific having to wade through all 15 pages to find what they are after (not fun).

However after looking at the search function, it appears that you can search by thread, or by post, so you are covered in either eventuality. So consider that my contribution of random information! ;)

Another tip: In a large multi-subject thread like this, change the Title of your reply, as I have done above, to make it stand out better in search results.

              Re: Sprinting in PR

Are the sprint distances different in PR by kit as they are in vanilla? IIRC, in vanilla, the "heavy" kits (assault, AT, etc.) had less sprint distance (and maybe even slower? not sure) than the "lighter" kits (medic, sniper, etc.). Is this the same in PR, or are all kits the same across the board?

Good info to know when planning that assault / approach over open ground (while another fireteam / squad provides suppressing fire, of course).

If you want to hold spawn make sure you have all rallies (existent and nonexistent) deselected by clicking somewhere on your map screen. If you had an old FB or rally selected that was destroyed and your timer runs out it still consider it "selected" and will default-spawn you back at base, even though to you it looks like nothing is selected. (I haven't officially confirmed this, but I always do it and I haven't had the problem since I started.)

If someone is chasing you and you are running away drop a grenade at your feet as you turn a corner. Get's em every time.

There's plenty more in Nardini's bag of tricks, but I can't give out all my secrets at once.

I didn't join a squad once and this guy named Nardini took me into the back room and beat me with a sock of oranges.

                    Re: The Random Information Thread

As a lethal system, a laser sniper rifle would be a formidable weapon: perfect accuracy at any a range measured in miles, with no windage, no drop, and no need to allow for target movement. And it would not give the firer’s position away with a report, smoke or muzzle flash – all the enemy would see would be the effect when it hits the target. Although it would have little impact on armor, it would be useful against most other targets including aircraft and helicopters.

High-energy, continuous-beam laser weapon systems like the Airborne Laser rely on massive amounts of energy to burn through the target. Short pulse lasers can do the job with much less energy, by creating an intense shockwave focused on a small area. They may also be able to create significant electro-magnetic pulse effects, and there has been work on tuning these to stun or paralyze humans

I think it is the equivalent of pumping them several times (resuscitate or whatever it is, option 2) to prep and/or get them unstuck before using the epipen. Done because it's faster to drop one bandage than several pumps? Or else it's to get a head start on the healing instantly upon revival?

But I am not 100% sure. I would like to know as well as I tend to play medic a lot.

                              Bombcar Buttons

Well, I see this thread is off to an explosive start. Like, Big Red detonating in the middle of the Mosque explosive.

Which brings me to my random tidbit of information:
In a bomb car/big red, right click is DETONATE. Left click is music.

As far as I know, no, all kits have the same sprint times, this was implemented a few releases ago (unrelated: perhaps they still have differentiating armor levels...). I'll check both of these out and answer this fully when I get the chance.

This is a leftover from PR versions past. See, back in the old days we didn't have CPR. We had field dressings, and bodies would often enough get stuck in things, making them unable to be revived. Someone somehow figured out that throwing a field dressing into a body put life back into the ragdoll, and often enough made the person revivable.

CPR was put into PR to counteract the need for the field dressing, making it so that the body is unstuck, and helping players save field dressings for when they are hit and alive. Now, players will do it most of the time simply to both unstick the body and give an extra chunk of health on revive.

Also, the original post says "regarding PR", for those who are blind as a bat. I'll make it a little more obvious.
