  • any chance of night time maps in PR ?

    Always wondered if PR or rather the BF2 engine was capable of doing night time combat ?

    would be great to be able to play some PR maps at night with tracer fire/night vision etc

    I think PR did have night time maps, but they got all taken out. It might be because of the SF expansion....Or something like that.

      Bi Ming used to be a night map, but it was nearly impossible to play so they switched it over to daytime. Night vision just doesn't work very well in PR and ended up giving everyone headaches.

      I didn't join a squad once and this guy named Nardini took me into the back room and beat me with a sock of oranges.

        They probably should of stopped looking at the moon directly. It can hurt your eyes you know.

          Yeah, something about not being able to use the nightvision from the vBF2:SF expansion.

          I still hope that one day we'll be running around with NVGs, with frickin' [IR] lasors on our guns.

                I remember the night time map on Bi Ming. It was pure chaos, but actually a bit of fun. :)

                  I am working on a few things you may enjoy.

                  However there are significant problems with lightmaps atm

                  a few seconds in you will see what happens when dynamic glows, muzzleflashes/incendiaries etc touch statics (buildings)

                    Forgotten Hope 2 mod has custom shaders which don't have this problem, it has a nightmap and the kits come with a flare gun to light up places and I've seen no problems.
                    Could be awesome, if the map didn't leave alot to wish for in terms of movement. =/

                    I doubt PR will do it like that though.

                      thats not the same thing, the night shaders that PR would use would be controlling the NVG effects etc.

                      They dont' work with latest graphics cards as seen in the video.

                      and a true night map in PR would require nvgs.

                      but as I said, I am working on some things that you might enjoy that are trying to circumvent these problems.

                        But Silent Eagle looks kind of dark, doesn't it? I guess it is the closest it'll get to night time combat.

                          I'm more of a fan of maps in the early hours of the morning.

                          You spawn in, and look around, you can see the stars start to diminish above the sky as you look east you can see the sun starting the rise, the night sky turns from the dark to the light orange, then as it breaks over the horizon your eyes see the beautiful rising sun.

                          Then a bullet whizzes past and you hear AR Fire and the engine of a tank. That my friend is a wake-up call if I ever heard of one.
